Default Rubber Conditioner

I saw a Youtube video showing a rubber conditioner being applied to the front seal of the convertible top. They mentioned AC Delco, but I can't find it. Is the 303 rubber seal an acceptable alternative?

Your looking for dielectric grease. It is not true petroleum based grease. It is a silicone lubricant suitable for use on electric connections. Works to condition rubber gaskets. Prevents squeaks with window channels. Inexpensive it is sold under a dozen brand names. Any Walmart et al, auto supply, amazon will have it.

I have used this with good results. The only thing is to make sure you do not leave too much, when it rains it can run down the window a bit. Ask me how I know lol.

I've been using Adams VRT (graphene version) [Vinyl-Rubber-Tire] on my seals.

We bought this for my wife’s Saturn Sky and then I started using it on the Corvette. It works great at keeping the seals fresh and it’s easy to apply.

I started using the VRT last year on weatherstripping - has done a good job keeping the rubber soft.

Dielectric grease is another popular thing to use.

Like most other maintenance products, ask the Forum and get many different recommendations. Just use a name-brand silicone grease and call it good.

silicone grease always made my gaskets sticky and attractive to dirt.

Gummi-Pflege works much better.

For what it is worth, I had a 2001 Camaro convertible for over a dozen years and a 2013 Camaro Convertible for over ten years. The rubber seals were as soft and flexible on the day I sold them as they were when new. Never treated either with any products. The synthetic materials this millennium are far superior to those in the '60's or '70's. Outside of squeak elimination if needed, treatment is a waste of time and money.

303 is the best. I've had this 96 Tacoma for 29 years, it's been stored out in the weather for 28 of those 29 years. Used 303 every fall and you can see the amazing condition of the original rubber moldings.
