Is there sufficient clearance to open the convertible tonneau in standard size two car garage with garage door in open position?
Also can you stop the tonneau while in the opening stages with your hand.

the height of the convertible (at its highest point) while operating is well documented. measure the lowest point in your garage. then you'll have the only answer you need.

Just did this very thing yesterday at a ceramic coating installer. Standard residential 2 car garage and at it's highest point it cleared the door by about 5-6 inches.
If you are opening it manually, you can stop the operation by releasing the button!

In mine I can. I have no idea if mine is considered "standard". You need to measure yours for yourself.
Do not stop the movement with your hand. Release the top button and it stops.
Is there such a thing? I did a quick search - not exhaustive. Here is statement I found. I think it makes it clear that one must measure their actual height to be sure. Damage can run into the the 1000s of dollars if a mistake is made.
8 feet
The standard garage ceiling height can vary, but according to international building codes, the minimum height is 8 feet. However, it can range from 7 to 12 feet or more depending on design and construction. The standard height of an overhead sectional garage door is 7 feet, which is considered the industry standard. Some recommendations include a ceiling height of 8 to 9 feet.
