Well I met the service writer specializing in Corvettes and the Corvette Specialist technician. The conversations exceeded my expectations. The technician’s name is Jeremy, looks to be in mid to late 30s. He owns a C3 and a C7 Grand Sport (manual trans). I quizzed Jeremy on maintenance, lifting, PDI, etc. I feel confident he would be great to work on my car if I owned a C8. Jeremy works on Rick Hendrick’s cars if they need it. A guy flat-bedded his Corvette from TN just to get Jeremy to work on it. Being retired, I would be in a position , from a scheduling perspective to get him if I needed some maintenance, warranty or repair work. So it looks like City Chevrolet (Charlotte) is the place around here for Corvette work.

Just hope Jeremy continues to work for the dealer. Had a similar situation that did not work out so well!
He has been there a few years, perhaps 5 based on when the previous Corvette Specialists retired (2020). Members of the Queen City (Charlotte) Corvette Club highly recommend him. People can always leave so that’s a good point. He sounded happy there. I hope he stays and the fact that he is young is encouraging. If nothing else, Rick Hendrick is a huge Corvette fan. He collects cars. He is in tight with GM getting VIN number 001 cars. I’m guessing he wants a Corvette expert at his flagship dealer.

I suspect there are dealership Chevy Service Departments that are outstanding....if you live by one.
The low standard of SERVICE starts with GM...as I detailed about their "Customer Care".
Thus, they do not hold the individual dealership's feet to the fire to make sure they are representing the company well.
This higher standard needs to be done on both sides of their operation. Sales and Service.
In sales....they exploited the heck out of their customers with the mark-up fees and GM allowed it.
Then GM turned around and threatened anyone who re-sold a new Corvette within 6 months.
We live in a time when hypocrisy is OK.

The average mechanic is over their heads when it comes to these cars! GM should have recognized that fact before the car was released. To make matters worse, all these misc issues! I was going to purchase a C8 but would not touch one now, to many issues, hopefully the C9 will be better!

The number of issues are magnified by forums since more people come to them to complain than those that post no problems with their cars.
Consumer Reports has the C8 transmission reliability as about average, some years higher than average, some years a little lower. Overall the C8 reliability is pretty good when compared to other cars. And this information is based on credible data.

I hear what you are saying, but “pretty good” is not acceptable for a car that expensive! GM was over their skies on this one, appears they just didn’t think things through, they’ve done it before. Luck of the draw!

Many of the vehicles with worse ratings cost as much or more than the C8. If you aren't happy with the reliability of the C8 you aren't going to be happy with the reliability of a majority of the cars available.

Most here are having a great time with our C8. Here's Consumer Reports critique. My personal experience for 5 years and 35K miles has been outstanding.

I’m not bashing the C8 it’s a very fine sports car, just a little pissed at how the people that own them and have issues are being treated by GM (and some dealers) I would have purchased one a long time ago if it wasn’t for all the issues these things have been having, not because I don’t have the funds. I’ve owned MANY Vettes, some good, some not so good.
For now I’ll just keep my Z07, 3LZ, M7, Vert! Consumer Reports C8 reliability average! My issues are not so much the car as the manufacturer and some dealers and the way they treat their loyal long time customers!

The C8 is about average for reliability but I agree that when a problem occurs the way GM and the dealers address it can be abysmal. Cars are rarely perfect and that is what a warranty is for. But when a car does have a problem it should be addressed quickly and competently, and that is where GM and its dealership system seem to fall flat on their face.

Do a Dave Ramsey! Do what you can control......
Save up, pay cash instead of going into more debt and being pissed off when everything doesn't go perfecy your way.
I had a buyback or "repurchase" as GM calls it. You will follow state lemon laws etc. but getting back all the itemized $ on the bill of sale minus the payoff it you have one. I had to push and be firm to refund my PPF since GM put in the buyback and finally I got that back. I returned my 2023 and found a great 2024 so that this situation, GM has paid 90% of the 2024 (same big options mine had).
If you have questions PM me I finished the deal in June so it's all recent.

How do you know I don’t pay cash, which I do! And I fail to see the correlation between paying cash having anything to do with being pissed off when things go wrong!
I am meeting the Service Mgr at the dealership closest to me this afternoon. It is City Chevrolet in Charlotte NC, the flagship dealership for Rick Hendrick. I bought a 2006 Z51 from them and they were great. I only used on service writer and developed a relationship with an experienced Corvette technician then. I want to see if that is still possible 19 years later. I don’t currently own a Corvette and never owned a C8. My main aversion to getting one is wondering if it could be maintained properly at a dealer. Am I wasting my time or is it possible. City Chevrolet has a great reputation and Rick Hendrick has a private collection of rare Corvettes, many VIN numbers 001 or 002. I hope to meet a qualified technician that makes me feel good about how a future car might be cared for here.
Hendrick has never had any sort of a "good" reputation.
