Quick question - 2021 Stingray - What is the best way to keep the engine from getting wet every time it rains
Thanks
@Keiths1969 I gather from your question, and its title "daily driver question", that you are not trying to avoid driving in the rain, but rather want to keep water (and debris) out of the engine bay - perhaps because you prefer to keep that area clean and detailed. And I assume you mean while driving, and not just parked outside. So you want a solution that works while moving.
And there is one. I think many will consider it hideous - but you can read about it and decide for yourself. Here is a link to a vendor that sells it. There are other sources as well. Looks like its available in black or red. The black seems to blend in better. There might be a cooling concern, but the listing says it was "tested" for that. If I were going to install these, I would be watching the temperatures carefully just the same.

GM has mentioned that they designed the rear to be able to get wet and you can drive in the rain with no issue. I also use a pressure washer on the rear and have had no issues.
I can't speak for the OP, but I think many times when this question comes up, its not about harming the engine. Its about detailing the engine compartment. I don't do it - and don't plan to. But I fully understand the motivation. The whole point of the Coupe configuration in that regard is to show off the engine bay (Chevy called it a "jewel under glass") - hence the big market for upgraded trim items for that space. And the engine compartment does get dirty - and so for those that wish to keep it detailed all the time - its helpful if there are ways to avoid that. I do not know if those water and debris diverters I posted above help or not - the area is more or less open below and so debris is going to come in that way too. Here a funny example for an HTC that's not even open from above. Of course, this was probably carried in by the varmint - but it shows why one might want to inspect the area once in a while.

Hmm, you are worrying about something that is a none issue! Did I worry about water coming in the hood vent on my two C7s large hood vent?? Nope.
If fact if you look carefully the rain on the two sides of the hatch (I have coupes) causes the rain to fall down on flat panels NOT on the engine. It runs to the front where their are two large drain holes where most of the water drains.
At most when I wash the car with a hose to soap and rinse taking no special precautions (but not foolishly squirting water in the Vents) only about 2 to 4 oz gets in that does not go out the drains In fact need that water when washing as I pick it up with a corner of a large towel. The I use that wet corner to clean off all the dirt and dust that comes thru the two large rear fender scoops. Then I use the 90% dry towel to wipe off engine cover and all flat spots.
Heck I have found i am driving my AWD E-Ray often in the rain where I was hesitant with 6 prior Vettes and the rear end could slide out even in Weather mode. Doesn't happen with the AWD E-Ray. Mine is driven only locally. For my 2020 C8 Z51 only had ~3000 miles end year one. Had ~4500 on the E-Ray. Have 6000 miles and will have 7500+ by the next engine oil change when it will be two years old in February. Heck my 2020 didn't hit 7500 miles where I had the DCT filer changed until year 3.
