Does a base model stingray need splash guards?

Anyway, appreciate the feedback from everyone. Have some oem guards on order. Now I will fret about whether or not I think I need radiator guards . . . . being paranoid can be kind of expensive.
But cheap enough and easy install. IMO better than Scrape Armor as double size bugs get thru their mesh to clog the AC condenser! Also Scrape Armor only cover the outer large openings. Bugs ad debris can also get in thru the two center openings. Not a high %age BUT not zero!
Here are some Pics of what you can buy from CCG:
Yep for ~$60 you can buy a sheet of powered coated Aluminum (not plastic.) That is enough to do the two large openings, the two smaller center opening and enough to cover the two rear fender scoops!
Don't want to cut your own? CCG sells precut. The 2 large, or 4 to provide 100% protection.
Member blaun made Protective Mesh for the 4 front openings and two rear fenders from one sheet.
I installed my CCG 1/4 inch mesh that lets in half the size bugs! In 4 years of hot summers in NE SC, some days 100+F no increase in coolant temps with aggressive street driving. I (and others) installed with NO wire ties showing by removing the grill bar. Only requires removing the same 3 grill screws as Scrape Armor requires for install. Once out just slide grill bar out. Installs the same way. Also no cut edges are visible, all behind the OEM Grill. If you want to cover the edges (no reason to) CCG sells Neoprene edging that fits their mesh. Their stated business philosophy is keep prices low so manual labor is on you. Better than paying someone in Chana as all there product made in USA! This is a How To Doc, mostly Pics with long captions. Comers member blaun's 4 front grill install:

The remainder in Pics:
When I got my 3rd Vette a C6 was determined not to have any "patina" (how silly.) I bought contoured, body colored large deep splash guards. They worked for the rear and for rocker panels up to the rear that were dinged. So even these large more like a bit gorpy MUD Flaps did not provide 100% protection in our rural area.
When I got my next Vette a 2014 C7 thought GM knows where the problem is and put clear Plastic PPF on the rocker panels from the door center back to the front of the rear wheel well. BUT turns out that thick cheap [plastic PPF was dinged with a month. Already looked bad. Yellow line I added shows where it was.
I bought aftermarket FULL LENGTH side skirts from LG MotorSports that solved the issue. Pebbles hit under the large flat side skirt and only ants would see them! When I sold the car no extra "patina" and got top $.
My next Vette ,a 2017 C7 Grand Sport also came with some cheap GM plastic as it had 2/3 length side skirts standard. But GM knew the issue was further back and had plastic in front on the rear wheel well. BUT I bought full length side skirts than worked so well on my 2014 C7. I removed the cheap GM plastic as I had on my 2014 C7. Car looked like new when I sold it.
When I bought my 2020 C8 no question I would get full length side skirts. Ordered the GM option 5VM BUT they were constrained. In a month had some small dings as this Tracker showed where Track rubber hit. No Splash guards will not stop dings toward the rear!
So I bought aftermarket copies! Fortunately they covered the dings. When I sold it 4 years later no "extra patina" and got about my purchase price!

Far from OCD! However when I sell the Vette (which have done with my prior 6 starting, from 1st a 1988) to get best price, can't have what you think as patina! Most normal folks don't like rocker arm dings.

Heck even my 1934 Ford does not have "patina!"

Installed these this week. Not a terribly entertaining job but it didn't take that long and the end result seems good. Found the note above in my 2025 manual for those, like me, who wonder about potential loss of cooling.
