Default Finally pulled the trigger

After years of lusting after and wanting a Corvette, I am finally in the club. It was a difficult decision to make (for various reasons, including practicality, cost, and whether I should drive it daily, etc.). But, after trying to talk myself out of it, I just couldn't. I also figure this would be a nice retirement gift for myself. I had been window shopping across the country, looking for exactly what I wanted, to no avail. I was driving by the car dealer on the way home and saw my future car sitting there. After some advice here and some back and forth with the dealer, I got to take this home.

2023 2LT with 8600 miles (DCT flushed). Elkhart Lake Blue, Z51 with GT2 natural interior and seatbelt, CF trim, mag ride, front lift, stealth interior, and red calipers (which I didn't think would look good on blue, but I love the contrast). The two main things I was looking for were Z51 and front lift, so everything else was icing on the cake. I even got the dealer to throw in the radiator guards as part of the deal.

Apologies for only one pic, my wife snapped a quick shot on the way to dinner. The toughest thing was buying and putting it in the garage for the next week. I bought it the day before we left on a week's vacation. First order of business is paint correction and ceramic coating, followed by some new/darker tint, and then learning everything it can do. I’ve got a 100 mile trip tommorrow so I’m excited to actually get to drive it.

Congrats OP! I am retired and near ordering a 2026. Can you tell me what you mean by “paint correction”?

Life is short, YOLO. Congrats on getting your C8.
P.S. As I pointed out in your previous thread, you have a very nicely optioned car. Enjoy that upcoming long drive.

If you're doing paint correction, you should do PPF to "lock it in". Ceramic only makes it easier to clean--it doesn't protect the paint.

p.s.
LOL at "retirement gift". Maybe you'll eventually trade this one in for your actual retirement gift, but we all know you aren't done grinding....yet.

Its a two step paint correction/polish to remove swirl marks on the paint.

YOLO, thats basically what everyone said. I was talking to my buddy who bought his C8, and told him "Its just seems so impractical." He said "its like the pool, you don't buy it because it's practical, you buy it for the fun and the memories"

Congrats on a great find, sometimes things are just meant to be. As mentioned you may want to consider PPF at least for the front/mirrors, obviously you're investing on having it look good, PPF cheaper than paint. ELB very nice color especially in the sun, had it on my 19GS. Beware the mod bug, it will bite you but we all make them our own. Have fun, be safe, ENJOY!

Yes, I'll for sure be looking into PPF and just ordered some small mods today. Years ago I had a full bolt on 2010 camaro, it will be hard not to go that route again. I almost went with a C7 Z06 just because the way they sound with a big, nasty cam.

From previous experience seeing what can happen to the paint (swirls) after it's prepped for delivery, I had assurances when mine arrived, no one would touch the car. I declined any detailing, including the stickers and plastic.

Zero swirl marks

It made my job prepping to do my own ceramic coating much easier.
