These accidents definitely suck. Thru no fault of your own the car will be worth less down the road. Good Luck with the repair.

I looked at my PDR and I was only going 9 mph, barely even had any throttle in it. Glad it was low speed, or he could have pitted me.

I do have PPF on the front 1/2, but not the back 1/2. It is ceramic coated, so i need to have that quarterpanel redone, which i will tell the adjuster.

Sometimes when I am on a busy multi lane road I am paranoid about someone that is riding next to me swerves over and hits me. So many people today are talking on their phones and not paying attention to their surroundings when they decide to change lanes. Happy to hear you are ok and your C8 will be back to looking like new in no time.

If I had to pick my least favorite road to drive on in the U.S., it would be I-70 in Denver. Do it multiple times in the winter, and occasionally in the Summer going to and from Steamboat from DIA. Talk about pushing the envelope…

Sorry this happened to you and that you were not injured. Earlier this year a woman in a 2023 GMC Yukon Denali XL came over into my lane while exiting a shopping center parking lot. She was on my left in a left-turn only lane and I was sitting on her right side in a right-turn only lane, both of us stopped. She instead decided she wanted to turn right and plowed into my driver’s side. She later apologized and admitted fault on the police report…said she never saw me. Fortunately, I guess, is that there was only scraped paint and a broken driver side mirror. I now avoid getting next to large vehicles whenever I can and will even tap the horn.

That's a major bummer - but at least you were not hurt and a competent body shop will fix your 'Vette as if nothing ever happened.

I love having the PDR all the time. I wish it had a rear view though too. Hopefully Chevrolet will do an update and have the rear view as well as the front view. That would be amazing.

Glad you’re okay. Join the club. I was hit in the left rear quarter/fascia several weeks ago. ALSO a Silverado 2500 HD. I was in a drive thru merging and he ran right into me. Freaking commercial vehicle (construction company)….. with a student driver sticker???? Minimal damage but sickening. I’ve had 6 Vettes since ‘93 and never been in a wreck or been hit.

Filed with my insurance as I didn’t want to deal with the other insurance company. Other driver was at fault and already have my deductible back. It’s at a high end shop now, waiting for my insurance to not want to fork out the bucks.

Hope your fix goes well.

Great that it was a no injury accident and not major damage.

Wow, what a coincidence. Just got my quote back today and it was $5,100 for that little bit of damage. We will see what their insurance company says.....Best of luck to you as well with the repair.

OK, I asked their insurance company about compensation for "Diminished Value" and he said after the repairs are done, we can figure that out. He asked what # I had in mind?

I really dont plan on trading this car in anytime soon, so not worried too much, but this will follow the car around the rest of it's life.

Anyone have any experience with this? There is no frame damage, so not worried about future issues.

Thanks for all your help.

I'd say 5-10% off the list price for identical car with a clean carfax. In the current C8 market likely closer to the 10% end of things as their resale is significantly affected by a "bad" carfax even if the actual repair isn't major. Too many pristine C8s available, so folks are far more leary of any with repair shop history.

  1. They didn't see me!!! That's exactly why I drive with my lights on when I'm driving on freeways. So easy not see the low car that I'm in.

FYI. Last time I checked into that a few years ago I was told they needed something in writing from an appraiser.

Seems like you could get an idea by getting some online quotes from Carvana, Carmax, Edmunds, etc. Ger a quote with no accidents and a quote for 1 accident.

I've been in auto insurance claims for almost 30 years (retired a few years ago but still do consulting). Here's what you do.

Try to find actual examples of cars for sale that have a minor accident listed. Compare it to another one that doesn't have anything on Carfax... which by the way does NOT mean it's never been in an accident. Obviously the two cars should be as comparable to yours as possible. Don't get trade in quotes, those are irrelevant, DV is based on retail. Since your damage was thankfully just cosmetic don't set very high expectations. You can try asking for 10%, it never hurts to ask, however I'd expect they'll offer 2 or 3

Carfax is a tool...in both the positive and negative terms of the word "tool".

Can't be a bad idea but I don't know if it solves the problem, not everyone's mirrors are set to pick up a really low slung sports car in a bad relative position. All I know to do about it is to keep your head on a swivel, try to stay out of blind spots when possible, and consider driving a different vehicle when you know you are headed for an ugly traffic situation.
