Driving down I-70 in Denver today and a Chevrolet 2500 work truck came into my lane and sideswiped my rear quarter panel.
The truck was moving over for an emergency vehicle and didnt see me in the middle lane. Not alot of damage really for a large truck hitting me pretty good. My car shook during the collission. Rear brake light housing is broken.
Will turn it into his insurance tomorrow and go from there. The Man was super apologetic about it, and just didn't see me.
Bummer to happen to such a nice car, but she held up well, I must say.
Glad there is no frame damage. Body panels rear bumper easy to replace. One reason I take back roads the ~25 miles to town versus I95. Hate driving next to 18 wheelers. Had one throw a rock from a tire on my 2014 C7 and chipped a windshield. Others leaving tire treads in the road that Pick-Ups and SUV just ride over with no warning they are in front of you. With the Vette, there goes a carbon fiber splitter! Frankly wonder if they even see me on their left.
Yep longer in distance taking all back roads to town but much more fun and fewer risks. Leaving home and cross over 4 lane divided highway going to I95 to take back roads to town.
That first rural road farm fields, no homes often no traffic. Usually on the way home with engine up to temp can hit triple digits and cotton/corn/tress don't care now fast I'm going.
Same here without the hit Someone in an SUV PULLED OVER IN FRONT OF ME AT ABOUT 80. They just decided that they would just change lanes without letting me know
My constant fear on the roadways. Sideswiping is easy to do. We sit so low, other vehicles often don't see us when fender to fender. Always have my PDR recording to document any mishap or recklessness in front of me.
That sucks. I guess the silver lining in all this is the driver was apologetic and had insurance. It really does sound like just an accident, with no ill intent or ridiculous driving as the cause.
Any competent shop can bang that job out rather easily, and you'll be cruising again in no time!
Last year, old fart in a minivan, left lane, me in right lane, decided he wanted to be in my lane.
No signal, just started drifting right, so I put the hammer down, and just avoided the sideswipe.

Careful with the "old farts" Young farts do the same or worse. Yeah, I'm an old fart and hopefully you will be too at some point.

Funny we live in a rural area with many two lane 55 mph limit roads. I take all back roads the 30 miles to town avoiding lights and traffic. BUT my wife is the oposite! She likes to take the main 4 lane (although narrow) roads to town (but not I95.) Does not mind the stop lights.
I'm paranoid about distracted drivers. Too many folks rear ended when stopped at a light and someone behind texting before their car comes to a stop. My MO has been for several years if approaching a red light I start crawling several hundred feet ahead and make those coming up behind crawl with! Probably pisses some off but sobeit! My wife doesn't do that and if a light is orange will come to a sudden stop. I won't if anyone is close behind!
She uses her cell phone all the time. Her BMW does a very good job lettering her the answer and call hands free. I have my iPhone set NOT to receive calls or text beeps when moving. I only use it when parked. Neither of us have had an accident since we have been married, almost 50 years. In my case since I have been driving.
