Default GMPP Sweet Spot?

Almost 11k mi on my 24' so I reached out to Todd and got the GMPP price list. Is there a sweet spot, best bang for the buck here? I know I want a zero deductible, kept my C7 for 6 yrs and drove it 50k mi. I am thinking the 72/72. Any thoughts?

The miles and duration of the plan are added to the miles and age of your car on the date you buy your plan. That is why there is an advantage to wait until just before your B2B warranty is up (but before you hit 12K miles where there is a price jump).

Well, you already have 11K on it and have owned it for 2+ years so buying 72K/72mo will get you to 83K and 8+ years of ownership. You think that you'll be at 83K in six years? Do you think that you will keep the car for 8+ years? Most likely not give your admitted history but it's your call. The point is, why purchase more coverage than you will really use.....the sweet spot is buying before 12K and the B2B expires.

For me the sweet spot was 84/56 but I don't put many miles on my car so the miles will fit. I wanted longer but there is a big price jump for the additional year on the 96/xx.

They don't add the miles to your current mileage. It's a total of 72k.
60/60 would be my bet.

That's the question.

Is the 72 mos 72mos from plan purchase? Or in service date from new?

If that's the case then great deal.

I dont recall that when I was looking for my C7Z back in 2016. I was told it was deducted from my existing miles/time.

So at 2.5yrs old if I bought the 72 I was only getting 3.5yrs of coverage. I guess that's changed now?

I got a GMEPP for my 2015 Stingray in 2016 and the current mileage and age was added to the plan terms back then. If you look at your contract it will explicitly state the mileage and date the plan ends.

There is a significant price benefit to getting it before 12K miles. I know, I just got quotes and that was quoted, then I got the prices with my 12.8K miles, more $$$

I do not know what is best for you. But I recommend that you look at the cost per year of actual extension of coverage beyond the expiration of the 3/36 factory B2B warranty, and mileage you need to cover for that period. The PPP coverage will start on the date of the contract. Mileage is the same way. If you have 11000 miles when you purchase a 80k mile plan, it will cover you to 91k miles. Your 2024 must be around 2 years old? If so, you have 1 year remaining coverage with the B2B. So if you by an 8 year plan PPP, your coverage beyond the expiration of the B2B is 7 years. So a 96/80 at 2686 costs 2686/7=383.71 per year. At a rate of 11000 per 2 year mileage, in the next 8 years you will have a total of 11K+8*5.5k miles or 55K miles so the you will be fully covered from a mileage point of view with that plan. If you pick a 5 year plan, your coverage beyond the B2B expiration is 4 year. In 5 more years you will have 5*5.5k+11k or 38.5 k miles. So the 60/50 plan would work for mileage. The cost per year of extended coverage beyond the B2B would be 1169/4=292.25. Not bad. But sort of depends on how long you want to keep the car and the miles you need to cover for that period. This plan cover a total of 7 years since new, longer than you you kept your last car. So it may be your best buy, and since its 60/50 it would appear to cover the same miles you drove you last one in 6 years.

The key is how long do you anticipate having the car and just how many miles do you project you will drive in that time? I would get a plan that covers a little longer than you plan to own the car (good resale issue) and a bit more mileage to cover you if you drive more than expected.

I have bought service contracts on my family cars for years and usually choose zero deductible. On my GMPP that I purchased for my '22 Z51 HTC, just shy of the end of the bumper-to-bumper warranty, I chose a $100 deductible since it was close to $500 cheaper than zero deductible. I doubt I will have 5 covered repairs during the contract period so choosing the higher deductible made sense. Time will tell.

Nice of Todd to give the price list!! Next Corvette I will seek out Todd.

I suggest 84/56k. For me, I drive 3k to 5k miles a year. So it's the years that is important to me.
7 year seems to be the sweet spot.

Some would say an extended warranty is a waste of money.
I say...
* it's like insurance, if you don't use it, GREAT!!
* one repair could easily cost $2k for parts and service
* the plan is transferable if I sell my 2024 HTC.
* the tech, complexity, electronics, and harder to repair(longer time)

I think 84/70 @ $2121.00 is pretty good…..

I did 84/56 on my 22. Paid 1325. Currently have 4500 miles. So it really comes down to how much and how long, independent. Powertrain is 5/60 but the 3/36 is pretty short for other items. Complicated cars so for me time was the concern.

For my '22 Z51 HTC, I bought a plan from Todd S when the car was 35 months old and had just shy of 33,000 miles. My Platinum plan with $100 deductible cost $3,079 and coverage term was 72 months / 72,000 miles so I am protected through August of 2030 or 105,000 miles. So far the car has been pretty much flawless but I like the protection and peace-of-mind. I currently have about 48,000 on the odometer so I am averaging about 950 miles per month which should conform to the terms of my policy.

Do you have contact info for Todd? I tried todd@thompsonauto.net that was in another post and it got bounced back. Thanks.
