OnStar
- Key Features Covered (8 Years): Automatic Crash Response, Emergency Services, Roadside Assistance, and remote vehicle commands (lock/unlock, start).
Good example is SiriusXM. They normally get $15-$20 per month. But you call and tell them you want the 1 year discount plan for $6/month. The only problem is you have call before the end-of-year and renew to continue. A little pain but for $6/month I will continue, nothing more.
If you have not been using it...well....that would seem to answer your question.
"2025 and newer model year vehicles automatically receive core OnStar features for 8 years, including Automatic Crash Response, remote commands, navigation, and audio streaming apps. And the best part? This is only the beginning of what we have to offer. "

Good question, I don’t know.
They wanted my credit card to start payments after the free trial. I refused to give the credit card.
If I have or don’t have the “free 8 year stuff” I’m fine with it, either way.
I'm not at all pushing you to use it. I'm not not much on OnStar myself, and do not have and have never had an OnStar subscription beyond a free trial. In my 2021, I have the old type of nav system that does not need an subscription, but typically I use Waze anyway. But...if I had a 2026, I would very likely activate the free subscription so I could use, or at least try out, the on board nav. I personally see very little reason for the other "benefits" it provides. And, I would probably end up still using Waze.
For clarity: A new Corvette comes with the OnStart Basic plan for eight years, AND the Protect plan for one month (regularly $19.99/mo, roadside assistance, stolen vehicle assistance, etc.). OnStar will extend the Protect plan to three months if you give them a credit card, so that is the only part you turned down.
I gave them my credit card, I wanted the service long enough to know what I was getting or giving up and knew a month would go by in a blink before I paid attention to it (tomorrow is my one-month anniversary). I put in a reminder before the three months is up. I haven't turned on Sirius either, I just use CarPlay.
I actually used OnStar Protect the first night. Drove home from the dealer two hours in the dark and rain, then on the third or fourth start that night the battery attained a shorted cell. I sat there for a moment at 1am, and realized, "oh yeah, I have OnStar", LOL. They boosted my battery to get me home, I had the battery replaced a few days later.

Was it worth renewing?
I can say the Navigation "live" connection is worth it.
Also the emergency door unlock has value.
But dinner reservations, code reading, crash reporting/ response not so much value.
And my rant, the stolen vehicle On Star system sucks for an owner
asking for emergency action.
At $150 for a year, not so sure I would renew.
Good luck with your decision.
