So far I've been using a mix of navigating using the built-in nav and using Android Auto for general phone stuff. It seems to work a little better at recognizing my voice and generally just seems more stable than the built-in stuff, sadly.

Android Automotive Apps
I have extensive experience using CarPlay, not only in my C8, but also in a number of rental cars of varying makes. I am also approaching 3 years using a GM vehicle with Android Automotive. Initially, I hung onto CarPlay. However, once I started using the native apps, I totally quit using CarPlay.

Is there a way to get music from Apple or Amazon w/o a cell phone
in that case it would cove via the internet (like navigation?) not the cell system.
If not, can you plug a IPod or zip drive into the car.
But the Google infotainment system in the car should be able to download whatever app you want to stream music from. Amazon probably has an app, Apple..... probably not for the Google system. You would need to pay for some sort of internet plan with the car.. probably thru OnStar.
I have music downloaded to my phone in the itunes library on my phone, and can play that through the infotainment system when the phone is wirelessly connected to the car via WiFi.
But your mention of the "internet" makes it sound like you are asking something else.
"in that case it would cove via the internet (like navigation?) not the cell system."
I assume "cove" is supposed to be "come" via the internet. And then you say "like navigation" - and I am not clear what that means either. I think you are asking if there is a built in app in the infotainement system that will allow you receive music via the internet (apple music or amazon music). Some things require clarification.
1)The car has a built in 4G cellular connection, and that is how it connects to the "internet". It does not use communication nor GPS satellites for that.
2)You need an OnStar subscription with a data plan for that internet connection (or there are workarounds that use you phone as a hotspot).
3) I dont know what you mean by like navigation - but navigation data comes in two parts, location data and map data. The location data (your coordinates) come from processing of GPS satellite signals. But your map data comes from an on-board SD card for 2020-2023 models, and it comes from the 4G cellular connection in real time as you drive in 2024 and on.
4) I'm not aware of app hosted in the infotainment system that will allow access to amazon or apple music. I know that on my vehicle, both Spotify and Pandora are, or can be on board apps (not to be confused with using CarPlay). When Pandora runs, yes, it would obtain its music via the built in 4G cell connection which would require an OnStar subscription or a data plan. There is a workaround where the phone put in hotspot mode and will supply the necessary data for an onboard app - but you are asking about how to do it without a phone,
the V1 matched with JBV1 is the ultimate radar protection solution (IMHO) (even has aircraft warning/identification)
