With C8 stingray already a performance leader, what new owners will be modifying their car to increase horsepower and perhaps handling performance? What would your starting point B on increasing horsepower?

With the new car’s voltage system change and encrypted electronics, it seems conventional hp gain methods might not be available on the C8, at least for now. With GM streaming updates to the car, security must be extensive.

High flow extra large catalytic converters should liberate another 20hp and sports car sound in a simple bolt-on
Knowing how bad things are I'm sure once the car detects the cats missing it will send a message through the car wifi to your phone. Sending a complete log to GM, local DMV, County and State police, EPA and the DNC.

The big mod for the c8 is going to be wheels and tires. The front tires are not wide enough for 3600 lbs car. Without reading the first review I can tell you GM designed in under steer with the 245 tires. IMO the big question is going to be how much rubber you can stuff under the stock fenders.

You're statement is true about designing in understeer, however, given the 40/60 weight split, they are not far off. Max the front camber and you can probably get it neutral. I agree though. I would want 295F and 335R on my GS. I would bet a $20 that the Z06 will have 275 or smaller front tires......

How is it "already a performance leader" if no one has driven it on a track yet?
The only way to increase power is to reduce exhaust back pressure and pumping losses of the intake and exhaust. High quality 200 cell sports race catalytic converters should liberate another 20hp with no check engine lights and more gutsy sports car sound. A lightweight highflow x pipe with valves should add more power and save a lot of weight off the rear of the c8. After that an Ecu tune is a possibility.
I cant remember but I believe someone said they got another performance exhaust installed at a Chevy dealership. Is that something many will do and would it still be covered by warranty or at least not void the rest of the car for warranty work? Reason I ask is because they say the NPP only gives 1hp.. that blows in my book
