Meh. I looked up C&D's test of a 2015 automatic. Exactly the same 50-70 time as they got for the 2020. So yes the C8 is much faster off the line, but back road passing is the same. If you launch your car or street race, you'll love it. But if you are more interested in acceleration at higher speeds, you'd might as well have a C7.
I suppose this is exactly what you'd expect. Take the same car, move the engine to the back, add a few hp and a few pounds, get different results. Faster off the line and out of a corner, slower into the corner, and the same at highway speeds.
Most people will prefer the C8. I hurl my C7 and C5 into roundabouts way too hard to do the same thing with a C8, and all my WOT time is passing slow traffic from a roll. Maybe the C8Z will be enough of an improvement that I'll consider one..

not if the new C8Z has that fpc 600hp engine. I can't imagine they're only going to increase the performance that little given the headroom this chassis has afforded them.
Everyone looks at the performance so critically. We know there’s more coming. In reality(for the base car)it really comes down to ride quality and 0-60 which this car blows away any prior corvette in ride quality and a base model quicker than the current zr1 to 60 is a win. 9 out of 10 base car buyers will likely never remotely push the limits except 0-60. For anyone remotely serious about performance we know that there will be a higher performance version coming so who cares if the acceleration drops off after 60. With this hp and weight that’s pretty much expected. I’m just happy the platform is a huge step up and will sit tight for the fpc engines version.
