That's the point though.. If he sells his current Z he will eat cost + buying a new base C8 only to eat even more cost to purchase a new C8Z.. May as well just wait. If all you're after is performance measurements, the C7Z is still better in every way.
In a straight line the DCT will NOT provide as much of an advantage as you think when comparing to a A8 C7Z. The C7Z was tested just as good at 0-60 times. No one in the real world will be or is able to replicate these times very often. Having less HP/TQ is where the advantage comes from for the C8, not the tranny. It's just easier to grip 450 torque compared to 650.
The DCT may not provide a real advantage but the engine placement and weight distribution may. 150HP is a large deficit to make up. The C7Z is a beast and even if the stingray is slower it will not be slow. For me the chance to get in a hard top convertible pushed up my timeline to not wait for a C8Z. I will be a little disappointed if the Z is available in 6 months but I am gambling that won’t happen.I think even if that is the case the demand will be high enough I will not loose much on the stingray.
No... they didn't. The C7 Z06 was tested years ago. That explanation is for the NEW test procedures.. that's why it is in this month's mag... and explains the C8.... did you read it?
They have been doing that for years...and yes I did read the article.

lol.. no... you can't just cruise past the fact that they STATED THE CHANGE IN THEIR testing method in that article .... then try to tell people that "they've been doing that for years" lol... no... their 1ft rollout or timing of it is CHANGED.... not "done that way for years"... good god. use your eyes and read

Yep, you are right, they minutely changed their testing procedure.
If you don't think they haven't been deducting 1ft rollout for years on end, then you are wrong.
I would think that even if and when they publish the recalculated times for the C7Z that both the M7 and A8 versions still didn't leave the line hard enough for them to be able to round up to a 0.1 second difference in the first place. So unless they start reporting 0-60 times in hundredths or thousandths type format, you aren't going to get numbers any different that what they posted years ago.
If 0-60 is all I cared about I would just keep letting Tesla do software updates to my P3, In 30 minutes of download/install my P3 went from 0-60 in 3.3 secs to 2.9. I'm definitely keeping my C7 Z 3LZ and then when the C8Z comes out I will buy one..probably trade my Tesla in on it. Hopefully GM is being smart and moving towards a battery platform or hybrid C8. The technology is here and Ferrari is already doing it. My plan is to have the last Gen FE Z and the first ME Z in my stable.
If people think that a ME C8 is going to be faster than the C7Z was at VIR before it comes out into the real world, then I think people are stetting themselves up to be disappointed. The C7 and Viper all FEs cars have outdone many ME cars, ME cars that have been around for a lot longer too.....will the C8 Stingray outperform either of those cars? We won't know how well it does until it is out and not being tested by magazines.
Here are the lap times for VIR..notice the FE cars on the list. I doubt the C8 will beat the C7Z.
Then the VIR time is the 2015 Z06 car which we all know the 2019 is better and improved and capable of better times. C8 will not beat the C7Z06. I'm going for the C8Z06 when it comes. But my M7 C7Z06 will stay as well.
