I am not a C8 owner yet, but I have been reading the owner manual & with great surprise, I read the procedure to check the engine oil. You now check the oil with the engine running & up to operating temperature. So for the last 100 years of so we have checked the oil the old fashioned way, engine off. So with the new C8, I can't imagine how long it will take a Chevy Tech or the local oil change guy to ever learn the new procedure. Heck, we have had trouble getting the C7 folks to check the dry sump cars with engine off & waiting 10 minutes to check the oil. Even if the C8 is the most perfect Corvette yet, I see some impending oil change disasters yet to come.
My 2 cents of amazement.
Probably there will be issues...only thing i think is the C8 looks so drastically different....the oil change guy will understand "This is different" ....hopefully.

Hmm, perhaps NOT! Think as I would anytime a Tech changed oil in my C7 dry sump- would check the level after!
In the case of the C7, lots of oil will drain back to the pan from the dry sump tank. For fun, checked the level after the car sat over a day before starting the engine! Oil was below the dip stick tip! Looking at the length of the hatched area (which is one quart) it was about 5+ quarts under minimum!
In a C8 a Tech checking with the engine off of a length of time would also find low oil. If they added oil it would be overfilled! The Owner's Manual clearly says DON'T OVERFILL!
On the C7 one of the biggest problem is people not waiting until the OIL Temperature reaches 175 degrees. When starting a cold engine sitting at an ambient temperature in the 50s it can take 20 to 25 minutes at idle for the Oil Temperature to reach 175 degrees. Coolant temperature will reach that level in about half the time. Most people clue in on coolant temp because their other cars don't monitor oil temp thus they don't wait long enough before shutting off the engine, waiting 5 minutes and then checking the level between 5 and 10 minutes after the engine has been turned off.
Like most other dry sump systems the C8 has you checking the oil while the engine is running. That caused massive confusion when working on the car with other people familiar with dry sump systems and having to shut off engine and wait 5 minutes.

Yep the wife's BMW dry sump needs the engine running as well. BUT it has no dip stick. You can check the level with engine running using the display. It takes a short time to get a reading. I seldom bother as it uses little oil be tween changes. It also has a low oil warning, which has never activated.

Yep, wonder how many will overfill because they checked the level with the engine off and got a low reading? Don't know what the "correct" oil level is in the tank with the engine running but assume it will be lower when the engine stops and some drains back to the pan as it does in a C7 dry sump!
