Looking for a Stop tech, Hawk or other more mainstream pad for lapping days in my C8 with stock tires? Any other less expensive pads available out there? I only see Carbotec, G-Loc and GM parts?
I have been doing this for 20 years... I don't care for Hawk and have gravitated to Carbotch and now G-Loc. They are very easy on rotors. I raced my C5 on 12/10s F/R and Timetrialed my C7 on the same. I ran them on the street but they are very noisy and very dusty. I am going to try the OEM pads on the C8 first and see if they can hold up to 8/10ths in the instructor group before swapping to aftermarket pads. If I do, it will probably be 10s or 12s all around.

Depends on what you want for street performance. I switched pads just to get low dust, as I will as soon as I get my C8 home. Tried cheap pads from China for my 2017 Grand Sport and tossed them after 900 miles because they did not stop as good with cold pads as the OEM pads I had on my 2014 C5 Z51 or the Carbotech 1521 Street Pads I replaced them with and used for 3 years.
The issue is all pads are a compromise. Note the Carbotech AX6 Autocross pads also show a minimum pad temp of 50 degrees, the same as the 1521 Street pads. However Carbotech says they are NOT low dust, nor are their other Race pads. The Chinese Pads only showed a Max temp of 1500F and therefor their Min temps were probably in the 200 to 250 range. No big deal when racing but after a drive on an Interstate when traffic unexpectedly stops in front NOT Good.. i have a somewhat unique situation as the 4 lane divided highway at the end of my street has traffic at 65+ mph. Very heavy traffic this time of year with folks going and coming from Myrtle Beach. I merge and not wanting folks to have to brake hard for me when I turn 100 yards after onto another rural road I apply the brakes aggressively to make the turn (especially when there is a log truck inline traveling that speed going to the papermill!) The Carbotech 1521's also have excellent pedal modulation so stopping is very predictable. Very important when another car is waiting to merge into traffic on the narrow rural road where I turn as there is little extra room. I'm sure a few folks soiled themselves wondering if this Grand Sport Corvette was going to be able to slow enough to make the turn! The Grand Sport brakes are great, stops faster than the C8 Z51 I'm getting!
The G-loc R12 have been good for me. Once bedded in, they're a good track pad and they don't make a ton of noise on the street if your rotors are in good shape.

My experience is the same... only issue is massive brake dust. But my C7 was white so it was very apparent. Whole sides of the car covered in it.
