Default Engine oil fill

A friend got his new C8 a few months ago and apparently wasn’t instructed on how to check his oil. So he did it the way he’s always done it. So he’s a quart low and adds a quart. Fortunately he calls dealer to find out why he’s a quart low. So he now knows motor has to be running. So dealer said let us call GM and find out what could be happening. 10 minutes later dealer calls my friend and tells him under no circumstances start that motor we are sending out a flat bed to bring it in. Apparently over fill is a NO NO. Alls well now.

Glad he got it straightened out, but as far as "being instructed".....

The owners manual describes the right way to do it. People need to take some responsibility to learn about the products they own.

Default Checking oil?

I’ve been driving cars trucks tractors for 65 years and NEVER checked oil with motor running. What I have an issue with is calling someone irresponsible for not digging through several hundred pages of a manual on how to check my oil. I had museum delivery and that was the first instruction they gave. By the way the manual has sections that must have been written by a chimpanzee
