Default Track Tires

Has anyone here been able to run AR-1 or any Nankang tire on the C8?

I’ve seen people talking about the F1-SC3 as a good option for a track-day tire but I have never run a Goodyear tire?

If not on a tire spec’d for whatever w2w series I’m running in, I generally run Toyo RR’s for endurance on all my cars or Pirelli slicks when it’s time to break a track record in the GTR.

The RR’s are magic and have become my go-to tire on everything from the Miata to a 4000lb GTR😬. Unfortunately they are unavailable in sizes for the C8.

I know plenty of road racers running the AR-1 and CR-1 on Miata, C6, EVO, and more. Was considering giving them a try on the C8 and they have both 265 or 245 front and the 305 rear available. Was think the 265 would help with initial turn in. I noticed it still pushes on the 4s’s even with maxing out the available adjustments on the factory suspension and wheel setup.

Has anyone heard any feedback on these tires on the C8?

AR-1

Hey Brother,

Our Track Development C8 is on the AR-1 currently and we came from a Yoko AO52. The AR-1 provides more grip than the Yoko and the wear life on it has been pretty good!

The pricing on them is also very fair in my opinion.

We currently run them on a 18" Forgeline GS1R setup. (295 front / 335 rear)

We are going to try the Cr-1 setup next so will have feedback on those soon as well

Here is a pic of our track C8

Car looks awesome! & Great choice on the wheels! I’m looking to go with that exact same wheel setup through “Phil’s” so I’m looking forward to ur feedback on the CR-1. I’m told they’re only about a half second or so off on most tracks?!?
Im going to throw a set of AR-1 on the extra stock wheels I got with the car for the meantime since I got an invite to check out the new 3.9mi track in the Ozarks… and order up the new wheels next season for the C8. I have a GTR track project I need to finish up before I start the mods on this one. thanks for the feedback!

where are u located, that track photo is beautiful!

Also could u share any break compound data or suggestions u have? I’ve tracked a few days on the stock z51pkg but They do fade a bit so I’m sure there’s a better option…

🙏🏼Thanks

I just mounted a set of the cr-s (cr-1) in the stock sizes on the extra stock wheels, as they were available local to me. Ill let you know when I run them. Have to get some break in miles on the car first and get alignment set.
I do think I should have gone 265 but wasnt sure so I stuck with stock sizes.
Not a fan of how they look on the wheel but not that it effects performance, but they have no rim protector rubber in the side wall so the rim lip really sticks out... It makes the tire look pinched like its really too wide for the wheel almost.

Just to expand on what Andrew from Cicio Performance said... main thing with the AR-1 is tire pressure, hot pressure should be 31-33. I typically start the car in the 25-26psi range and the tire comes in after a lap or 2.

The CR-1 is a tire that is built to come up to temp quickly, its a great AutoX tire because of this fact. We'll run the AR-1 in the SCCA Time Trials at road atlanta in 2 weeks, it should be slightly slower than the A052, but the cost savings over the Ao52 is nearly $450 so that makes it pretty palatable.

Hi @Cicio Performance

This setup sounds perfect for me - would you please tell me how to order the exact same setup? - Thanks
