If he was peeking at the right side though, probably the porosity issue which I don't think is related to operator use or failure to break in properly.
Keep the RPM's low, no hard starts, no hard stops, try to run through all the gears, don't use cruise control, and in Drive-auto mode, use the manual shifting paddle to force it to vary the gears. (don't sit in 8th gear, force it to drop a couple gears so long as you keep engine RPM within range)
Part of this is engine break-in too, but the same applies to the DCT as far as limiting RPM is concerned. You are trying to get the mating surfaces of the gears to develop nicely to avoid future interference problems when there are tight tolerances that limit backlash, etc.
I honestly think it is worth getting the external DCT filter swapped directly after the break in period vs the 7500 mi mark given all the issues we have heard with debris in solenoids.
