Default 18 Inch Track Tires/Wheels

I’ve learned a great deal of information from reading the many posts here on the C8 Forum, so thank you everyone.

I would like to have an extra set of wheels to put stickier tires on the car for the track. The car is a non-Z51.

1. Are tire pressure sensors required to be on the extra set of wheels? I saw a post that indicated the car would not run

2. What 18 inch and 18 inch tire size are people running and what wheel offset are you using? Does this throw off the computer system on braking or traction control?

Thanks!

Tire pressures sensors are not required. They do provide information to the elsd so its function may be marginally less than optimal but nothing you could feel from the seat.

We're running 18x10 Front w/ 295/30ZR18's and 18x12 Rear with 345/35ZR18's. Zero issues.

Can you post a couple pics of yours on the 18’s? They are appealing to me because of the cheaper tires and better traction/ride. I also think the race look is cool, plus I will be tracking my car some next year. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Also I see you are a vendor, can I buy these wheels through you? Any suggestions?

Running 18's on mine as well that Dane @ LG was kind enough to sell me. Just make sure you get the right offsets, i'm running a fairly large spacer in the rear. 18's are a pain in the *** to run on the C8, the A-Arms need a little bit of clearancing to get them to work perfectly, with the help of MCS we also droop limited the rear suspension slightly to ensure its never an issue on track.

I have used a lot of tires on them, Nankang AR-1's, CR-1s, A052's, etc etc. Lots of sizes and brands to choose from.

I want to use 18 inch wheels.

Are the offsets you are using stock? +52 Front, +64 rear?

what did you do to the A-arms? Did you have to grind off material?

also, what’s your favorite tire? Have you tried Pirelli slicks? Thanks

Dane at LG should be able to get you set up with a set of wheels from Forgeline in the proper offsets. Yes, we ground a bit off the top A-Arm in the rear, you need to expand the pocket that is already forged in the a-arm a little bit, not much of an issue if there in tension on the sway bar but if the entire car is off the ground the wheel will rest on the A-Arm. Couple ways to address this, droop limit the rear suspension, or grind. I havent had any issue on track with the 18s.

Most things i do in the car require a street tire so I play in the 100-200tw realm. I'm sure the Pirelli slicks are fun though.

The lead time for ForgeLine wheels is 10-12 weeks. What I’ve learned so for …I think….

options 18x12 rears offset 60mm
18x10 fronts offset 45mm

19x12 rears offset 60mm
18x10 fronts offset 45mm

Anyone have an idea on a source other than ForgeLine? I do not want to wait 3 months.

Can anyone confirm the offsets? These offsets should clear the large AP brakes. I assume offsets are the same for all rears and all fronts regardless of tire width , since measurement is taken from centerline of wheel. Correct?

House of Wheel has C7 ZO6 19x12 59mm and 19x10 40mm, but I not confident they will fit since lug spacing and size is different.

Any wheel source ideas?

Thanks

Those offsets a silly conservative.
My 18s are:
18x10 ET45
18x12 ET57

Then i am running a 6mm spacer up front and a 15 out back, effectively making my offsets ET39 and ET42

Just an FYI, i know its hard for some reason to get people to share offsets.

Isn’t that backwards? If spacers are added the offsets become larger. Correct? The wheels and tires sit further outboard. Do the tires extend beyond the fender-well? You don’t have any fender rub? Thanks

Pretty sure i have it right.... The spacers would reduce the wheels offset, think of offset as how far the wheel attaches to the hub from the centerline of the wheel. If the wheels offset was +30 and i added a 30mm spacer, the offset of the wheel would be effectively 0 as it would be back to the centerline.

The wheels do sit further outboard. Here is a pic. Also keep in mind if you are tracking you are gonna be running nearly 3 degrees of camber all the way around.

Tires in the picture are 285/30F 305/30R Nankang CR-1's

Did you buy these custom made? If so, why a 45 with a spacer instead of going straight to ET39? Or the spacer there just to prevent possible control arm rub, even though the 45 fits fine at ride height?

When Forgeline has a 8-12 week wait to get a set of wheels beggars cant be choosers when you need a set of wheels quickly. Dane@LG had a set of wheels on the shelf he was willing to sell me and i was a grateful recipient. The wheels in the conservative offsets fit just fine however there was some room from improvement to get the stance I wanted.
