Car 1: C4 Corvette - Guy drops a bunch of money on car (heads/intake/inj, 92mm TB, 1-7/8 longtubes, 3 inch exhaust, 220/224 cam, faceplated tko600 5spd, LS7 clutch, 3.54 gear - Taken from video description, didn't bother watching but you can tell the outcome from the first frame). Lots of mods and apparent weight reduction. Upgraded gearing. Still a Corvette, so + cool points there
Car 2: Likely stock c8 (?)
(Street) Race scenario: Heavily modified C4 races a C8 from a roll, on what appears to be a public road, removing the C8s innate off the line advantage, in a straight line, and taking advantage of their weight savings and money spent. And as mentioned, the weak(er) powerband of the C8 in aforementioned gearing. Cool car, but the outcome shouldn't be a surprise.
Assumed Outcome: Duh
Morale of the story: Spend money/Do work = Make car faster
$8500 car, bought it in 2018 already swapped with just about all the mods done already. I added 3" exhaust from the collectors, faceplated the tko, put in ls7 clutch, changed the shocks and bought a used underdrive and a used c6 airaid for a couple hundo from this forum. Maybe approaching ~$12k total in the car if you add in some maintenance items like brakes, u-joints and a couple hubs.
Just razzing the forum for the Christmas break guys. I am not trying to get famous, just sharing a vid of my fun beater. Merry Christmas!

Nah all good. Sounds like a pretty slick setup and project.
Hope to be doing something similar in the future once I get my car.
I’m not going to say there’s no truth to that. However,it’s kinda difficult to get a good dig with a 600/700 rwhp car at your local red light on a non prepped track (all tracks are prepped to make your car get out of a dig) So in that case there’s really not a better stat to show you the power your car unleashes. The c8 does it in the 10 second range. Not that impressive. Sorry.

Actually not as hard as people say it is. I have a C3 under 3000lb , 650hp and it launches just fine on the street . . Not as hard as on a prepped surface. But plenty hard to get it done.
Roll racing started with the 4 & 6 cyl turbo cars that only make power after 5000 rpm.
I agree with Diehard, the no prep guys got it figured out. When you watch the amatuers honking there horns to start a race they probably at best, they start a half a second difference or more. A half a second at 120mph is 88 ft, which is about 5 car lengths, pure genius. If they had a clue they would be at a track of some kind. The truth sucks don't it.
Of course we are , its because we have real life experience.
Its just over the last decade that roll racing has become a thing. And its not High torque and High Hp V8 people that started it. It the high hp, high rpm, turbo car guys who made it a thing.
Personally I find 60 to 130 a bore. But 0 to 131 @10.77 in a 1/4 mile in my C3 is awesome. And I did that on a no prep airport runway..
You gotta play to your strengths and the conditions. The C8 is bad *** on the street from a dead stop from 60mph not so much. It also depends on the opportunity that presents itself, IF a C8 rolls alongside me on the highway a roll race it is, if the conditions allow it. If it’s from a red light that’s ok too, I’ll run it down and pass it.

The car has the power but not the guts. I have broken several times doing launches. 11.62 @ 126 is her best on a 2.1 60ft. Pulled a 1.8x about a year ago and broke a u-joint and driveshaft. Haven't had much urge to give'r the beans off the line since then... But work in progress. More power (8710r1 cam) and a clutch tamer are going in very soon. If I don't blow up the Dana 44, I should be able to match a C8 every once in a while on the short portion of the track. Doing it consistently like a C8 can... Probably not happening.
