I would really like to be able to carry either my road or mountain bike using a trailer hitch receiver on my 2020 C8....
Had one installed on my 911 Carrera GTS. It's hidden behind the hinged rear license plate.

There are ski racks that have attachments that will hold a bike. We ride a race tandem so it won’t work for me. I’d like a trailer hitch so I can bring track tires, jack , tools etc to track days and open road races instead of trailering it like I do now.

I had the rear bumper cover off and was wondering if the rear bumper bar is structural enough to attach a hitch to and modify the bumper cover so the receiver will pass through.

There's a lot of communities in the US were driving around in a Carrera, C8, McLaren, with a bicycle on the back will create a favorable image.

Same here in SC BUT not a bike rack. To be one of the "boys," need a hunting dog box near your pick-up tailgate and a gun rack! Don't need a dog or a gun, just the Box and Rack! Best also to run through mud and leave it on the Truck!

On the subject, doubt you'll find a tow hitch for the C8. BUT like I fabricated for my C6 here is an idea I proposed:

Top two pics are suggestions for a C8. Need a hole cut behind the license plate for the receiver stub. Remove the plate when hitch needed and put on trailer!

What I fabricated for my C6 for a "Small" Trailer. Could carry some tools and tires for tracking

Pic of receiver and cover used when not needed.

No room to store so had hanging from the ceiling with a 4:1 pully arrangement, each lifting 1/8th the trailer weight.

Yes, your do have a good plan Jerry and I've considered it but my concern is with drilling into that carbon fiber cross member... the C8 is not built like my Porsche (steel) so the stresses will be unknown.

Default Thanks

When it’s warm enough to work on it, I’m going to pull the rear number cover and the under gray off.

the drawings and pictures have given me a few ideas. It will be nice to NOT trailer it to track days! My plan is a 100000 miles C8 when I’m done!

Someone else raised that question! BUT IMO it's not a significant issue. Carbon fiber is a structural material. You can drill through it. Will that weaken the member and a rear end crash. Probably slightly BUT the sides of a box beam are there to separate the two main members resisting bending, top and bottom. If this were a bridge beam, the sides would typically be made from thinner members! Depends on the loading direction strength your trying to maintain BUT it's there mostly for a collision.

BUT if concerned, use longer plates and bolt over the top and bottom. Looks to be room.

Default Bike rack only

Yes it's a good hitch for the C8. But I only use mine to move my bicycle on a modified bike rack (it only carries ONE bike now). Even though this hitch class is rated for 2000lbs I'm not comfortable hauling anything heavy.

I fixed the hitch ball, at the time this was all I had from my previous vehicle I raced and towed this trailer with. Since then I have a straight ball mount and the trailer rides level.
