Default Ceramic and a Rock Chip

Hey all. Simple question and a little advice needed. Black C8. Had the car paint corrected and ceramic coated with GTechniq EVO4+ and Crystal Serum Light - looks like glass. Here's the issue. I got a little tiny rock chip just below the front emblem. It's super small but on the black car, in the sunlight, it sticks out like crazy. I tried using a little dab of Dr. Color Chip (which worked on my other cars) except it doesn't seem to stay on because the surrounding ceramic is actually doing its job and the touch up paint won't stick.

Question is simple. Anyone been there and done that? I was thinking of PPF the front clip to avoid rock chips altogether. I was told by the PPF installer that during the ceramic removal the chip can likely be filled with touch up paint, "knocked down" and then PPF would hide any remaining minor little imperfections. Thoughts anyone? Is there a fix or do I just need to live with it?

The ceramic needs to be sanded off so the paint can be touched up. Sounds like the PPF installer is on the right track.

Should check if PPF can be installed properly over the ceramic coating. My experiences, it can not adhere properly, unless the ceramic coating for your planned front clip is chemically removed. Which isn’t a big deal.

Yes, if car is ceramic coated, the chip cannot be touched up, unless part that area ceramic coating is removed, then reapplied. Personally, I’m not a fan of wet sanding it off, as it may touch the clear coat in the process.

99.99% of coatings, pro and consumer, will come off with a light cutting pad & a fine to medium polish. Maybe a compound & microfiber pad in rare circumstances.

Ceramic coatings needing wetsanding to remove is, for all practical purposes, a myth.
