Default Help? Replace Interior Panel?

Hey all. Need a little help. Unfortunately getting out of the car, being an old guy, my damned readers in my pocket scratched the crap out of the door trim/lower speaker cover. I was able to order a new one and want to replace it. Anyone done this before? I thought I would try DIY before taking to dealer. Maybe someone has access to that page in the shop manual? I have the appropriate tools to remove the clips/trim but never done it on a C8. I also wonder if this can be done without removing the seat? I may just live with it if that’s the case or if it’s too much of a hassle. Here is a pic of what I want to replace. (This was taken before I scratched it up).

well if you have the part you can see where the clips are, just use a plastic pry where those are and it should pop out. I have never done that piece but I would assume the seat can stay in.
good luck and let us know how you did !

As the above post mentioned, use the clip locations on the backside of the new panel as a template on where to pry. You'll want a set of trim panel removal tools: https://www.harborfreight.com/trim-a...-pc-64126.html

Thanks! The one issue is that the way it's designed the plate above and below the panel in question has to be removed because they overlap. That is part of the issue. I don't know where the clips are on those other two....Was hoping someone has a screen shot of the shop manual...I bet there is a schematic that shows where the other clips are....

How much overlap is there? It may be small enough where you can gently lift one to side the old one out and new one in. Most these panels are like basic Snap-Tite models so feeling your way around with the panel tools should give you a very good idea where the pressure clips are. This is how I handled it on my Jeep when removing half the interior to fully clean out the HVAC system.

I'm going to follow along here because a dealership scratched up this exact panel on my car when they were replacing the seat cover on my new C8. I never went back and wanted to resolve this myself.

I have not had a chance to try this yet. Still a little apprehensive. I worry I will make matters worse. I may give this a shot tomorrow morning. Will take pictures along the way when I do.

Have you ordered and received the new replacement panel yet? It took a month to get my replacement. Also, if you have a 2022 the part number is different than the 2020-2021.The drivers side panel is part number 85117719 (that is jet black by the way) I got it from www.wholesalegmpartsdirect.com for $56.00 delivered.

I haven't ordered it yet. I have a 2021 and it's my passenger side. I'll have to look up the part on that site now. I didn't know this existed. Thank you!

Don't know if this would help you. It's a parts diagram of that area. You might be able to see where the other pieces attach and figure out how to get them loose.
