I am using Fodsports M1-S Plus Bluetooth intercoms to communicate with my navigator during road races. It works well.
However the unit to unit pairing after a new power up seems erratic.
Sometimes the units find each other immediately after power up with no additional button pushing.
Other times I must go through the pairing procedure. The pairing procedure is not complicated but any distraction at the start of a race is bad.
I have no response from Fodsports on this. Anyone in this group have any experience in re-pairing these units after a new power up?
I finally found a brief mention in the intercom manual on re-storing the pairing after a power down.
However the instructions only worked part of the time.
The other times it was pushing buttons hit and miss to re-establish the coms.
I now have three of these units. The third one drives a powered speaker that sits on the dash.
This is audio for the camera. With your face shield down, the camera can not hear the helmet to helmet chatter.
In answer to the question I posed, yes there is a re-pair procedure but it doesn't always work.
The battery lasts at least 24 hours, so I will just leave them on all the time on race day to avoid the hassle.
That being said, these are still the best Bluetooth intercom units I have tried.
Do these units allow a passenger to plug in their own earbuds? When having a passenger on autocross or HPDE, I'd like to use a wired earbud setup that will easily slide underneath whatever helmet the passenger has.
I use the Trac-Com unit. It's wired, works great every time. I use it for HPDE instructing and got the instructor boom inside my helmet and the student slips the boom in their helmet and it plugs into the box.

We used Trac-Com when we were doing C8 development. The earbud/mic that comes with it pressed a bit too hard on my ear but after switching to Stilo helmet coms the set up was fantastic.
