Default Frunk Problem on 2021 HTC, please help.

Hi everyone!
I am having issues with my frunk opening on its own. It does it after I wash the car and the frunk pops itself over and over. I have to disconnect the battery and wait a few days for everything to dry out and then it will stop. It seems to be the front hood button that is located under the driver side front bumper. I think it is allowing water to get inside the switch. How do I get to the switch to remove it and replace it? I am trying to avoid a trip to the dealer. The switch in not expensive. I would prefer to change it myself.

I haven't done this, but just from looking at it I see two possibilities. The frunk tub appears to be easy to remove, and you may be able to access the switch and wiring from there. If nothing else, you should be able to disconnect the wires to it, which would confirm whether that's where the problem is. If you can't access the switch from inside, I suspect the entire front valance (bumper) will have to come off.

Thank you for the response. I am trying to get the frunk tub out, but I am having difficulty. I have removed the 4 bolts on the outer perimeter and all of the push pins and screw on plastic caps from the inside of the tub, but it seems that something is still holding it.

Got the tub out. Still no access to the switch. Going to pull the front bumper cover tomorrow.

Whole front bumper had to come off to gain access. Not a hard job, just lots of screws. Replaced the switch and all is well now.

Good! I am wondering how water got there in the first place. Did the original switch have a tear in the soft cover? What will prevent it from happening again?

Original appears intact. I am sure it could easily happen again. I hope the new switch is sealed better than the original...

I think it's a freak occurence. I haven't read any other posts like yours, and mine has been through multiple monsoons without any switch issues.

I agree. I scoured the web searching for a similar issue and found nothing. Guess I'm just lucky...
