I would like to paint my engine cover the same edge red as my calipers and the valve covers . I can’t seem to find a high temp spray in edge red . Has anyone done this ? If so what paint did you use ? Thinking caliper paint or an engine paint ? I know I can buy a cover for $550 but I figure I Have little to lose to try and paint it myself if I can find the right paint

I wanted it to match Torch Red, which I couldn't find spray paint for. But this is super close enough that can't tell the difference with the cover sitting in the engine bay and not next to paint. I bet it would match Edge Red close enough, too.
What I did was to clean off the engine cover in soapy water, rinse it really well, and dry it really well. Then taped off the Corvette plates and laid down some primer on everything. Then several coats of the Duplicolor. I went VERY light each coat to ensure no dripping, etc. With all the crevices I didn't want to be fishing out a run. Then topped it off with a few coats of clear engine enamel paint to seal it all up and give a more durable topcoat.
So far it's holding up perfectly despite not being high temp paint (other than the enamel topcoat).
Thanks I may give it a try interesting that the top coat engine clear enamel may protect the other coats of paint . It’s cheap enough and I have the time and if it doesn’t hold up no biggie would buy an edge red one
I first cleaned the cover with soapy water, rinsed & dried, then taped-off the design, then wiped it all down with mineral spirits.
I used the following to do my cover:
Dupli-color CP199 clear adhesion promoter primerDupli-color engine primerRust-Oleum 241169 Semi Gloss BlackDupli-color EBTY16187 Barcelona Red Metallic (three light coats)Hand painted the emblemDupli-color engine gloss enamel w/ceramic (three light coats over entire cover)The cover color is almost a perfect match with the valve covers. It's a bit dusty right now, but after nearly 10K miles in Arizona, it still looks great, if I do say so myself
Thankyou all for your input , I ended up using a combination of ideas cleaned well and wiped down with mineral spirits masked off some of the black areas including emblem and the script area. Then VHT hi temp primer followed by the Red then removed tape from the black areas and used hi temp clear after about 3 hrs used a heat gun to help cure the hi temp paint heat and cool off 3 times not sure this step is needed would probably cure on its own after a couple heat cycles on the engine I will check back on this tread after a a week or so to see how it’s holding up at least in the short term .
