Does anyone know if I can get adaptive cruise control on my C8? If so, who would I contact?

One can only wish, but it is not available on the C8. I had it on my previous car - a 2019 Mustang - and it is one of the few things I wish you could get on the C8

TBH I'm glad it doesn't have it.

i believe Tadge mentioned the C8's were not a candidate for adaptive cruise control due to the ride height and front end camera placement.

I have it on my Ford F150. I like it, but it does not do well at all in heavy rain - its almost unsafe. It has logic to detect conditions where it determines that its unsafe to use, but that logic is not instant. I experience sudden braking and sudden acceleration in heavy rain, after which I received a dash message saying that it was disabled due to conditions. I'm not so sure I would like the adaptive cruise control on my Vette (until it was perfected).

The Adaptive Cruise Control in my wife's Toyota Avalon works very well. My biggest criticism is that when a car is in front of me and pulls into a turning lane and slows down to make a turn that the Avalon will initially slow down until it realizes that the car is no longer directly in front of me.
Now, the lane assist is a different story...

Yea, he said that but I think he is just toeing the line. There are plenty of cars with similar ride heights and bumpers that have ACC. He also initially said that grill guards could void the warranty.

That seems odd. My 812 GTS has it.

PIA for me in the wife’s BMW SUV. In heavy traffic as two nights ago for the 2 1/2 hr trip from Charlotte Airport, car slows leaving big gap, other cars cut it front, causing it to slow further. Won’t use its lane maintainer feature, just more of a distraction.

Enough distracted drivers to watch out for. I do not use my cell phone when driving. Have my iPhone set not to receive calls or foolish text message beeps when moving. So far have maintained my 63 year driving record of not having an accident with another car. But getting tougher with folks spending time doing other than driving!

Yeah - thats a problem with other drivers. If you leave the space you should leave for a given speed (they used to teach that in high school driving school), then someone will pass you, just so they can get in that space (and then tailgate the car you were following). Irrespective of adaptive cruise control. On my F150, that space is adjustable, with the closer settings being called "sport". ha ha. The adaptive feature can also be disabled - which is necessary under some conditions. Under conditions where the adaptive feature cant work well, it will automatically shut off cruise control all together - I have to manually switch it to non-adaptive cruise control.

^^
No way to shut it off in the BMW except to not use cruise control. Can not activate lane maintainer, cruise control combo. My MO is to use the throttle and force a closer following when someone cuts in front. Just a PIA with the person behind driving too close.

Yep I remember the old rule if you have a tailgater. Leave more room to the car in front so you have longer to stop if needed. Just exacerbates leaving too much space. Fortunately with the Vette most of my driving is local, don’t use the Interstate But do use cruise control all the time to keep my 8 over the limit! Even have the speed warning set at 70 mph, reminds me when I am 15 mph over the typical 55 mph limit. I hear that warning often but only when I am passing farm fields, no homes no other cars!

Adaptive cruise control was to be available in 2023 models, delayed i believe so may be available on 20024 models.
Is high up on my list for my new C8 must have options, including auto emergency braking.
If VW can have these systems sorted and totally reliable years ago what is the issue, yes i do agree you need to be able to customize the levels of automation nannies to suit your requirements.

Having driven in many countries the ease and comfort of driving with adaptive cruise control, it becomes something you look for in other cars.

Try it get to know how it works and appreciate the small assistance, even the odd times we get distracted behind the wheel it can prevent an accident.
Driving in extreme heavy European traffic, adaptive cruise control and auto emergency braking has helped save me a few times.

Did we complain about intermittent windshield wipers when they first came out too?

Yep, all for latest technology but from my experience unless everyone has adaptive cruise control it causes a potential hazard! Wife is on her 3rd BMW X5 SUV. That is all we use for longer trips, never my now 6 DD Corvettes. I mostly drive. All have had auto emergency braking. Recall it operating once, when I had an AH tailgating on a rwistly 4 lane highway and I cut in front of the car next to me in the right lane to “let” the tailgater rear end them someone else! I pulled in close to the car in front to leave enough room to the one I cut in front of. Did not have my foot on the brake so it activated. Not a big deal as touched the brake pedal lightly and I was back in control.

Her current 2021also has adaptive cruise control (and lane maintainer which I won’t use) and causes issues in heavy traffic. In a recent trip to Jacksonville FL on I95, most of SC is only 2 lanes. Lot of 18 wheelers an RVs heading to FL in the right lane. 18 wheelers pass the slower RVs. I have cruise control set for 5 to 7 over the 70 mph limit. So my car slows leaving a large gap. Some behind, who are following close, decide to pass me on the right and cut in front slowing me further. Continual PIA. My work around is using the throttle to not leave that large gap!

Had similar issue the other night coming back the 2 1/2 hour trip from Charlotte Airport. BTW was in Europe visiting several countries for 3 weeks on vacation. Paris the last 4. My observation then and prior is drivers are far better than those in Miami! In fact since I attend meetings of our Tech Society in Miami, was driving the wife’s Porsche Cayenne before she got her last 3 BMWs. They are such crazy Drivers I swore I’d never drive in Miami again. Cabs are my choice, won’t even rent a car!

BTW been driving 63 years and (looking for wood) never had an accident with another car! I have my iPhone set not to receive calls or foolish text messages when dtiving. Today have all my attention looking in my mirrors (including the best thing since sliced bead the TV Rear Mirror in my C8 coupe.) I also think HUD is essential to keep eyes on the road to look out best I can for those distracted, including those using cell phones. Tough today to maintain that record so hope luck continues.

Yep if every car was required to have adaptive cruise control would be fine. I’d also opt to have cell phones blocked from use while driving (but that won’t happen.) So in the meantime, we’ll use the method the Commercial Managing Director of our German Company said they employ. Part of his compensation package was a new, highest hp available Mercedes. He drove one way, foot to the floor often past 150 mph. While driving with him at ~150 mph, a car in the right lane pulled in our left lane to pass a truck both going half our speed. He had to slam on his brakes. I asked if that happens often. He said no folks like that don’t live long! Guess we’ll continue to use that Darwin solution.

Adaptive cruise...ahhhhhh...another "feature" to turn off. Similar to autostop. I have both on a Trailblazer and the adaptive cruise can at least be disabled through every start/stop cycle. Autostop cannot.

What I have experienced it allows sloppy driving habits. No fluid car control. I turn it off on all the cars we own. It reminds me of my wife's drivin. Run up onto another cars **** end and then slow down to it's pace and sit there until she realizes she can go around and get back up to speed.

When I placed my deposit with MacMulkin in May 2020 they were building their 2021 model year waiting list. I asked to be put on a model year 2022 list hoping that adaptive cruise control might be offered by then. I have it on my daily driver and love it. Also, it can get confusing having a car with the feature and one without, for obvious reasons. Fortunately, my wait for a 2022 was not in vain since they introduced the Aero Delete option where I could order Z51 without the spoiler or splitter. So, my wait paid off but in an unexpected way.

I had it on a pre-2010 Volvo and it was awesome on long rides. My wife’s Kia has it AND lane control and while not always smooth, it’s amazing technology that’ll drive the car fully on the highway at speed and all the way down to stop and go

I've driven a few cars with Adaptive Cruise, only one of the from GM. Some of them worked very well, some worked pretty well. The system in the Buick rental I had was absolutely awful. Jerky, inconsistent following distance, not remotely helpful. I gave it several tries, and then just turned it off. If the C8 were to get a similar system, I'd never use it.

I love them. Some are better than others. Ford’s seems to be one of the best. I was really disappointed this car didn’t have one.
