New owner trans question!
First ‘vette for me!
I will be doing a fair amount of tracking her and I’ve heard about the “have the dealer add two quarts to the trans” issue.
I’ve told them to do that Monday before I pick it up but my question is this:
should the ask them to drain and verify a full (+ 2) fill? I’ve heard several people say they didn’t get a full full from factory.
I plan to put some hard track miles on her and i want to get this right up front.
What’s the best practice? Thank you!!!

It is also very important for you to be sure that if the car is ever taken in for service that they know it has the track fill. Otherwise, they will drain off the extra quarts, simply by checking the side plug level.
Again take it how you want. I’m sure the keyboard warriors are sharping their knives reading this. Everything I’ve stated above is from proven oil test report from Blackstone. The oil in my DCT didn’t get the best results (but was still great for mine alone, luckily)until after the second change. After that it has seem to be normal aggressive wear commonly seen in track cars. Which was stated there was no concern with my application. Understandable the first few changes they expect to see more wear, foreign debris, and silicones. This is where I believe some have it worse than others, combined with not enough maintenance………….”because GM doesn’t recommend until 7500 miles”. Yet so many have had issues. These cars are built with tight tolerances and some error. So there will or could have less than desire wear or contaminants. Pretty obvious. Enough of that.
I will mention after second change I went with another oil (Oh lord, GM engineer fanboys are throwing their keyboards at the screen now, lol) for the DCT. Yes it’s the same requirements as GM suggest. Not to get into that too much. That oil handles the heat a little better based on test samples.
If you have a car of this caliber and the will to track it. This type of maintenance is nothing to the amount of money we blow on these cars. Especially tracking. We must be nuts. As I said, take it for what you deem.
