Default My experience with Soler and the throttle controller

I decided to add a throttle controller from Soler Engineering after reading many reviews.

I installed it as documented. Did not have any CEL issues but...

When first installed the engine would crank but not start. Re installed, checking all connections. Still no start.
Tried again the next day after another re install and it started.
Everything great. Driving around checking out all the modes was amazing and fun. Settled in on Sport 3 for my daily driver for now.

Then discovered that when I put the pedal all the way down the car would fall flat on it's face. The engine would return to idle.
Tried returning the setting to OEM. Still no full throttle.
Talked to Soler. Re installed again. Oops. No start came back.
Went back to factory direct to pedal, all as it should be but not as fun.

Re installed. Started and ran but full throttle still no go. Turned car off. Called Soler again and we seemed to agree that it sounded like a intermittent wire somewhere.
Went back to the car and no start.
Never a CEL, never any stored codes.

Put back to stock. Soler e mailed me a label to return it.

Besides the holiday delays the replacement got here fast.

Installed it and -Hooray- All is good. Never a no start, pedal all the way down works.
Still have to get a drive on it as the streets are messy and I don't want to get dirty.

A big thank you to Soler for quick response.
I will be going back for the Ported Throttle body soon.

Just wanted to share my experience. One in a Million problem I am sure. If there is a bad one out there I am the guy who's going to get it.

Sorry to hear you are experiencing issue with your TC.

I installed a Soler Engineering TC on my C8. I am experiencing the complete opposite. Works like a champ with no issues.

HUGH deference in throttle response.

You should give them a 2nd chance, once you experience what it does, you won't want to go back.

Just my opinion

All was taken care of quickly by Soler, which is the reason for my post.
Replacement one is in and working great.

Very much impressed by their response that I will be sure to get the throttle body soon.
Joecbrzx did you put the throttle body on yours?

I am awaiting my SE throttle body.
Once I experienced what their TC did, I was extremely impressed. That made me purchase their 91mm Throttle body.

Please let me know what you think. It will probably be a few months before I do mine.
Thanks!

No problem. I will post a new thread on Throttle Body once it's installed and tested.

thanks to you both for the posts. I am not thrilled with the lack of snap the stock C8 pedal has. I can get more snap out of my M760i in sport mode, and it weighs 5000 lbs. My M6 (V10) and Jag F-type R (AWD) were monsters for throttle snap. Not the C8.... Might try this device sometime. I am wondering if they made the pedal that way to preserve the C8 drivetrain, or at least, the mounts? That said...with the mushy pedal, It is not as if my launches suck, that is for sure. With Sport Cup 2s (not R), and some ForgedLite MC5s I can get a 2.7 second PDR 0-60. Stock Z51= everything else. (Forgedlites to be replaced with Litespeed Racing, soon)

and please make sure you tell us what size TB you get. If you can, check with the Pedal commander set to OE. check for a loss of snappiness down low and a tendency for the engine to bog if you floor it in low RPMs.
I have an 87mm (91 effective, I guess?) that I have not had time to install yet. I also have Paragon headers I have not installed yet. Need an exhaust of some kind. Want valves.

I finished installing TB. However, since it is raining heavy, I have not had a chance to test yet.

I went with the Solar performance 87mm ported to 91mm. Now just waiting to get the intake manifold ported. My stock intake manifold and throttle body will be available soon. Throttle body can be used as a core refund from Solar performance.
