Front camera turning on when going from reverse to drive
Started two days ago. After reversing, the front cameras turn on when I put the car into drive. Hitting neither the home button nor the camera button gets it out of it. The camera stays on the entire time no matter how fast I go; only putting it into park then back into drive turns it off (without shutting the car down).
Anyone else experienced this? Any tips on a fix? Planning a bit of testing tomorrow to see if I can rule out a few different sequences and narrow things down a bit.
The front camera should shut off after a few seconds of driving forward. I back my 2022 out of the garage then put into drive to pull out onto the street. I'm not sure if it is the speed or the time driving that causes it to turn off, but it does.
If it just started doing this you might have a trip to the dealer in your future. Meanwhile, train your muscle memory to shift reverse->park->drive.
i was hoping to get mine to do that. if you find how it went wrong, maybe i can figure out how to make mine do it. What year, and coupe or HTC? I think there were some changes between 2020 and 2021 in how it works.

Hello all, following up on this thread to see if anyone has discovered a way to stop the front camera from coming on when you go from reverse to drive other than:
Going into park, then drive instead of straight to drive
Just driving off
hitting the home button on the infotainment screen
Pressing the front camera button doesn't work for me for whatever reason. It's not a huge deal but curious if there's any new information since last year on the subject. It's disorienting but I can get used to it if I have to.
If the camera stays on, it seems like it would be a distraction. Kind of like watching a movie while driving. It could be dangerous, let alone annoying. Mine goes off soon after I move forward, but even then I find it annoying. In my opinion it should only be activated when called for by the driver, as when parking.

It's normal for the front camera to come on when you go from Reverse to Drive. But it should go off after 5 or so seconds or moving forward. If it stays on, that's something your dealer is going to need to look at. There's no setting to enable or disable that feature.
I think this "feature" is a hold-over from the C7, which didn't have a physical button to turn on the front cameras, so you could activate them by shifting to reverse, then back to forward, before parking.
