I just installed my rotors and then saw another member selling a used set.
it wasn’t until just now that I realized that they changed their rotor slotted design from a straight cut to a curved cut. They also increased the slots from 7 cuts to 10 cuts. They also went from a purple-ish hat to black which is a welcomed change in my opinion.
I bought mine over a year ago and they are the "old design" the OP shows. I would also be curious about the when and the why of the change. Also, any price diff?

pricing is still the same. The change has to be within the last month.
Do the new ones rust as bad as my current ones on the non friction surfaces?
No reason they wouldn't if you leave the car outside. The rings have iron content. They will rust if enough moisture stays on them. On a garaged car they generally will not. Mine have none.

Are you talking about the OEM Z51 discs rusting (known problem) or the Girodiscs rusting? I've had my Girodisc rotors on all four wheels for over a year. I have washed the car often and (gasp) even driven in rainstorms. I've never noticed any rust on mine. Maybe I just don't pay close enough attention but I think I would have noticed it, especially after washing and airdrying the car and cleaning the wheels.
My car is always garaged but gets wet when I wash it and sometimes get caught in the rain. These new Girodisc rotorshave been on the car for 2 weeks. only 2 weeks and rusted already

Mine look like this....
But they are iron so they certainly can rust. It's fine as that rust will do nothing to compromise the ring by the time youve used it up.
Maybe because I live in Southern California and we always have low humidity, but I have had mine installed for over a year and have no rust. Car is garaged but is washed and driven in the rain.
