Default C 8 alignment

How soon after delivery should a alignment be performed?

I like to give it about 1k miles for everything to settle in. Great time to lower your car, if you plan to.

I’ve never had a new vehicle that didn’t need one. Especially the toe. My wife’s X5 must of got skipped it was so bad. 400 miles in dealer bought us new tires on the front and fixed it all. Never felt a thing. Toe can chew them up.

I think all of you are right. I just wasn't sure if it was a waste of money. I usually also do a alignment after installation of new tires.

Have not had one on mine, and tires are wearing evenly and no other issues.

That is good to hear, hopefully you're one of the lucky ones! Both my C7 & C8 were delivered outside the factory spec range.

All four of my 2020 Z51 tires were wearing more on the inside to some degree. When I brought the car in for its first service at 4600 miles I noted this and asked them to check the alignment. It was out and they performed an alignment under warranty.

As you noted, you want to do an alignment after replacing tires. For a new C8, the dealer will align for free within a "short" period of time after the in-service date or miles. I do not recall if the mileage limitation is stated in the warranty book. You could call and ask a service manager at your local Chevy dealer.

You have to be careful how you phrase/ask for it. To get it covered under warranty, there must be a complaint from the customer for them to document in order to authorize an alignment check. Chances are then very high they'll find at least one parameter outside of factory spec then allowing them to have the alignment performed under warranty. I typically wait until I'm nearing 1k miles and find a pull to either side or a cocked steering wheel to note. Other times, its completely obvious and there's a very noticeable problem (I one time had a car delivered and the steering wheel was clearly off by 45-degrees when driving on a straight/flat road).

I agree to leave well enough alone. I worry a dealer will screw up something that is not wrong.

I've had multiple alignments performed at my dealer and they always do a good job, C7 & C8. The printout tells you what you need to know. They do a better job than the chain shops in my experience when just wanting a factory-spec alignment, but most dealers are not very good at custom alignment setups (really need a specialty shop for those).

Had my '23 aligned to be exactly halfway between the 'track' spec (according to GM) and the bog standard alignment at 2000ish miles. The car was 100% spot on to what factory settings were supposed to be. Just a data point...

Also, FWIW, the halfway to track alignment is great for my purposes. The tires are wearing evenly with another 2000 miles put on the car since. 100% worth it.
