Default Heads/cam packages

Are there any shops with published heads/cam/tuning packages and pricing out besides Peitz? I can't seem to find anything else out there now that HP tuners is out.

Katech. They are claiming 565hp for $14,995. Appears to be a mild cam and headwork with all the ancillary bits to make it work. Also includes HP Tuners unlock and dyno calibration. That appears to be a price including installation, but the site is a bit vague. If they can back up that number with dyno sheets and satisfied customers, that really isn't completely horrible pricing. I mean, the HP Tuner process is $3K right off the top so the rest of it you're getting for $12K. Guys have been spending that on bullshit bolt-on builds to get 25whp.

The Texas Boost District location is looking for customers for their cam set up. $8,500 installed w/Tune and stuff. Not sure if that's still available but Roshan posted on their FB

$8500 is already absurd. Even with $3k of that being the tune, $5500 for a cam and labor? Nuts. And this is a discounted price? They would have to just charge me for parts for me to leave them my car.

Is that WHP?

Stock is what...~440WHP?

Or is that 565 FWHP where stock is 495?

Im guessing it takes stock power of 495 to 565 for $15,000.... 70HP for $15,000?

I'd say yes but they're underrating the true BHP* Their package will probably fall somewhere in the 500-510WHP range realistically (or at least it "should") Better than guessing though, why doesn't someone just call them and ask?

ps: It doesn't really matter thou guys, the ECU unlock was JUST released barely 30+days ago... there are *multiple* shops nationwide scrambling to beta test various head/cam setups to release to the public. This will drive the HP levels UP while lowering the costs of future N/A packages. There's a HUGE market demand $$$ for strong N/A packages over bolt-on blowers for many owners. Particularly track rats. This will deliver us better options in the near future... capitalism*

Heads/cam on E85 should easily produce around 560-570 rwhp.

Heads, cam and tune on E85 making that kind of power along with a raised redline and TCU tune to make it work and I'm a customer at $15K. That would be Z06 fast in a straight line.

I contacted one of my old builders from back in the day. Got the parts price and some details that should make a heads/cam C8 totally kill a stock C8Z in the 1/4 mile.
Just watching and want to see all this unfold

Just curious. What are all the Camaro guys paying for their GM V8 heads/cam/tune? Minus the tune maybe….for a more fair comparison.

what is the Z06 whp?

Camaro stuff is cheaper. The Corvette tax is real.

Z06whp is 600 +/- 5whp.

Yep...ported heads, cam, install and tune on camaros is about 1/3 the cost. Got quoted $195/hr x 30hrs for labor for head/cam install which is absurd. $195/hr labor? Is that typical or just for C8 business?

Labor rates are going to be very location dependent. $195/hr for a reputable tuning shop in a big metro area is not out of the realm. Gets cheaper in places with lower cost of living.

Depressingly, I looked at LT1 stuff for Camaros and the parts are anywhere from $2-3K for heads and cam. Using the $15K we've seen advertised thus far, if you back out $3K for HPTuners for the C8 and a very generous $5,000 for install, the parts themselves seem to run about $7K. So, over twice what Camaro bits cost.

^^^ I contacted a builder/tuner with what I needed to run 9.7’s NA. There are the motor parts.
Limited though without a trans tune.

There is no one better than Katech. They used to build the engines for Corvette Racing.
