Is there any truth to the rumor that because of past issues with C8 transmissions, to include 2023 model year that GM has redesigned and made corrective changes to the 2024 C8 transmissions to overcome the mechanical issues. Not sure that is the case, but just wondering if anyone knows for sure. Could be untrue because it is always hard to find “He said, she said, or they said, when you want to verify facts. Maybe Rumor Control or the Purple Phantom knows. What say ye?
That much I realize, but if there are issues with the transmission would GM ensure that corrective changes were made to the transmission’s by Tremac. Certainly they would not want to see it continue for the 2024 model year.
Thank you all for the information about the transmission. Just bought a 2023 C8 and was wondering about issues with the transmission. Hopefully, it will not have a problem, but even then the transmission is under warranty.
it’s rarely the operating features on the road of the transmission.
mostly just the parking mechanism …this entire situation is being blown out of proportion.
Its an ultra conservative parameter for park.
relax and enjoy the ride.
Totally agree how people get their panties in a bundle from internet complaints on very little real world problems. Drive the car like it was designed to be driven.
I hope my trans fails again soonish so I can get the new case and not have to tilt the car over to add an extra two quarts lol. Would be nice to fill once through the overflow port with the car level.
I have a friend here in SW Florida who purchase a used 2023 C8 with 2,100 miles on it about three weeks ago, and come to find out that his transmission needs to be replaced. The Chevy dealer is in the process of working towards the goal of having transmission replaced. It appears that the new redesigned transmissions for the C8 became available in July for replacements and installation in the 2024 C8’s. Not sure if that is true about the new transmissions, but in time we will see if that is the case.

Get a picture of it before it is installed - and show the location of the fill plug on the side.

.
you definitely look on the bright side of things…. But I think I’m going to beat the crap out of my car more now than I was going to.
Any changes to the Z06 transmission or just the Stingray?
D.
It's likely that the Stingray is just getting some of the modifications that the Z06 already has. The Z06 may get some changes but they would probably more related e to a different casting vendor than anything else.

new transmission I believe started going into C8's I believe in July '23 and 2 additional quarts are not required if you track the car.
The biggest difference between these two transmissions is the Z06 case uses a much larger bearing that supports each output shaft off the differential on both sides of the case. The Z06 bearing is much larger.
Is there any proof of this? My C8 Z51 was built on 8/4/23 and would like to know for sure that I don’t void the warranty by not adding the 2 quarts when I go to track my car after the 1500 mile break in period. Looking forward to running it at Homestead and Sebring down here in South Florida and hope I have the Gen4 DCT.

You should be able to look at the ID tag on the unit. It will be labeled either M1L or M1M, the later will be the upgraded transmission.

July 17th 2023 and vin# 7263 are when the new case not new transmission was changed. The new case does not need the 2 extra quarts. The internals are the same. I was told this face to face with Harlan Charles.
