Default Power Stop brake pad question

My C8 with Z51 is less than a month old but I am already tired of all the brake dust. I am washing the wheels after almost every drive for fear that the dust will eat into the wheel dust (which I have read in a few places). I really don't want to spend $500 for a set of Carbotech pad.

Looking on Rockauto they list two different part numbers for Power Stop as being correct for Z51. Fronts - Z268007 and Z268009. Rears - Z268008 and Z268010. I don't see any difference in the descriptions of the pads.

What's the difference?

Thanks,
Don

Part numbers 8009 & 8010 are correct for a C8 Z51.

#8007 & 8008 are "Exc. Z51 Package" i.e. base Stingray non-Z51 models.

Different car. Different rotors. Different pads. Get over it. All bare iron rotors get surface rust after rain or washing.

I have about 15k miles in my C8 Powerstop pads and did about 30k miles with them on my C7. Terrific performance street pads!

Blowing smoke! Power stop pads are great and the brown rotor comes when you wash it don't blame that on the power stop pads. Been running them for years. The better pad for less cost!

Well, sounds like they handled your issue perfectly then and got you all squared away.

In all fairness to Powerstop, come back and tell us what you think after you've put some mileage on the new pads and rotors.

Powerstop Rotors lasted 4 track days. The front rotors cracked. Rears are still good. It seems the C8 is hard on the front brakes. The front pads wear more quickly than the rears. Will try some just slotted rotors next - like the Girodiscs or other cheap rotor. Granted the Power stop rotors are $250 a set for the front. $125/track weekend on the rotors is still cheaper than Girodiscs.

Have had Carbotech 1521 street only pads on my 2014 Z51, 2017 Grand Sport and now on my C8. I wash my wheels only when I wash the car. ~85% less dust than Brembo and it does not pit my wheels as the Brembo were on the black wheels I had on my C7 Z51. No treatment on my OEM wheels.

I've used the PowerStop pads for a few hundred miles and so far very little dust, no noise and decent stopping power for the street. I would recommend the PowerStop pads for the street. Have not tried them on the track.

Subscribing. I'm torn between the Powerstops and the Carbotechs. Big price difference between the two, aka is the Carbotechs worth the 4x extra cost?

I buy the better pad...and I've had no issues spending $950 on pads for this car before.

I’m changing my pads now, and I’ve got to say that changing pads on this car is a breeze. I didn’t have a special tool to push the pistons into the caliper, so I simply pushed on the rotor side (with the old pads still installed) and that allowed sufficient room for the new pad to be installed. Additionally, I was having difficulty trying to seat the retention pins using a hammer. Instead, I used a set of tongue-groove pliers and placed one one jaw on the pin and the other on the edge of the brake pad. It took some grip strength, but the pins fully seated.
