I have a 2023 Z51, after installing the Carbo 1521 Pads, CT28951, I noticed on the rear that the pad material is higher than Brembo;s, a tad above rotor surface, does that seem normal. see attached.
Has anyone contacted Carbotech asking if there is going to be a replacement/exchange program once they have corrected the design? Carbotech charges a premium price and you would expect them to take care of customers when they have a design issue.
I contacted them when I first installed the pads in question, Robert at Carbo says it's no big deal and won't hurt anything. Of course not acceptable. I sent email today after hearing rumors they were modifying future production to resolve issue, Haven't heard anything back yet.
I received a response back. They said they are not modifying them…the sound the overhanging pads make once worn a bit is pretty annoying.
Yeah, I'm pretty annoyed at that as well. They were squeal-free for a few thousand miles until they started wearing down some - I didn't know what the issue was until I discovered this thread and it was driving me nuts trying to identify what was going on.
There's probably a few lawyers on the forum, maybe we should file a suit
I get your sarcasm, but it is annoying to pay significantly more for these pads than their competition and yet have something as obviously incorrect as these are. Have you purchased these pads? If so I suspect you will be annoyed as well if they start squealing due to the improper fitment.
I am not trying to start a flame war. It is just that you expect high quality when paying premium prices, especailly from a well established company with a good reputation.
I have 5000 miles on my 1521's now with no problems and no noise. When should I expect the problems to start? (I also have Girodisc rotors). I noticed the overhang when I installed the pads and rotors. It didn't seem like a big deal to me.
