problem with 2023 Vette
Son in Law's 2023 Z51 Vette, 800 miles....message was "Rear Axle System off". While driving received the message and made noise sounding like something was dragging under Vette. Stopped, checked fluids and tires and general look over. Started to drive, heard clicking then went away. Got home and put in garage.
Got this same idiot light when I failed to properly seat a spark plug wire. Dash lit up like a scene from Apollo 13. Good luck, hopefully it's something minor.

Any ideas??
Thank you
A quick search on the forum reveals (unfotunately) many threads with "rear axle system off". I believe this message can be triggered by different conditions, so that message alone will not be sufficient to suggest what is wrong. Do you know what code you have? Regardless, it will require trip to the dealer. They will start a diagnostic procedure called for by the code you have, and go through a series of possible remedies. Typical outcomes are 1) problem goes away after reset, 2) check/correct fluid level, 3) solved by hydraulic system flush/filter replacement, 4) solved by drain and replacement of fluid and or internal filter, 5) valve body replacement, 6) transmission replacement. These are all typical, progressive steps in the procedures, which terminate at the point where one of the solves the problem.
I'm the Son in Law - #5 for 500.00 please. Apparently it's taking upwards of 6 weeks to get the Valve Body. Was told I could leave the car, take a rental home. I chose not to leave at the dealership for weeks on in. Drove home just fine from dealership. Do you all know if the original manufacture warranty extends when your car can't be fixed due to part shortages for the length of time you're unable to drive it?

The original warranty will not extend due to shortages out of GM's control.

I believe the warranty is extended by the amount of time the car is out of service, I think there is a statement in the warranty guide. It doesn't matter why the car was out of service if it was due to a warrantable issue.

It may have to actually be in the authorized dealers shop. They cant/shouldn't send the car home while you wait for a part. From the warranty manual:
Warranty Coverage – Extensions
Time Extensions : The New Vehicle Limited
Warranty will be extended one day for each
day beyond the first 24 hour period in which
your vehicle is at an authorized dealer
facility for warranty service. You may be
asked to show the repair orders to verify
the period of time the warranty is to be
extended. Your extension rights may vary
depending on state law.

Good point, I didn't catch that he took it home. But I don't blame him for not wanting to let is sit at the dealer either. I'd call Chevrolet Customer Car to discuss it with them. Between mileage and OnStar he should be able to prove he isn't driving it. Pretty stupid if he has to bring back to the dealer to sit there to get the warranty extension.

Didn't know this was in the warranty guide. Thanks for the knowledge.
