Default Finally! A reasonably priced intake!

I was browsing some Black Friday sales for my wife's Jeep and came upon this, aFe has released a lower priced intake that utilizes a plastic inlet tube rather than carbon fiber! At $459, this seems like a relative steal vs. the competition, especially considering you can't see any of the carbon fiber once the car is put back together.

https://afepower.com/afe-power-54-13...pro-5r-filters

I have the carbon fiber "Track Series" version on my car, but I can find no reason to justify that additional cost now unless you just really want to have some hidden carbon fiber bling.

That figures, I already spent twice that on a Haltech.

That's right Kracka

It's been said here over and over again,,,,, "that you can't ever have enough Carbon Fiber".

Well, that statement just doesn't play anymore.

When I was ordering my intake I even told my buddy and wife I wish they just made a plastic version! Kinda figured it would come eventually after they got us early adopters...

Ordered mine. It’s supposed to be cooler here next week so I can see if my car runs better with it. Test and tune. Or in my case…. Just test. No tune.

Hello 64365coupe,

Man, it's been a while since we've heard from you. Anyways, I am planning on going back to Bradenton December 7th which is the last test and tune for the year. The rest of Bradenton is the yearly big events..

It is noticeable, and decent. Bang for the buck, a drop-in air filter at $84 (https://afepower.com/afe-power-11-10...y-s-air-filter) is the better value, but if you're willing to chase the proverbial ponies, then the full intake is the way to do it. Based on Paragon's dyno testing, the aFe dry drop-in alone is worth +6whp/+2wtq while the aFe dry full intake is worth +8whp/+7wtq.

I originally had just the drop-in, but am happier with the full system knowing it's as efficient as it can reasonably be with my other cold side mods.

Awesome !! I already have Soler ported polished throttle body and throttle controller and just recently had MRT's street /race catback installed so I'm thinking this will give me a little more fun factor.

HTC Owners - Read their fitment notice carefully. Copied from the webpage

"Fitment Note

While this intake fits on the convertible models, the seal trim of the housing will not seal to the trunk cover. 58-10007R and 58-10007D are preferred for convertible models because the cover in those kits will properly seal the housing."

Did you notice more intake sound with the full intake? That's mainly what I'm interested in. I need to drown out the clattering injectors some more.

Yes. My wife noticed no difference from a drop-in filter but definitely heard the full intake.
