Can you put 265 front tires on a stock 8.5 inch rim? Same question for 325's on the rear 11 inch rims. If so, would it make any difference, or would the sidewalls get pinched to where it might actually handle the same or even worse? Not spending money for wider wheels, so I am wondering if I can go a bit wider on my track tires (Nankangs) and whether it matters. (I was told it would be bad idea maritally if I took advantage of the Apex wheel sale that was recently going on - go ahead and flame me for that.) I'm perfectly happy to keep running stock size tires on the track, but if I can get a little more rubber down, I might do that. Otherwise, I will wait until someone decides to sell some used wider wheels at a good price. Thanks.
Shop for tires by size then pick one and click specs. It will show the rim size(s).
By the way, I've got a set of wheels and tires for sale in the stock sizes in the Autocrossing and RAcing classified section. Nankangs Sportnex CR-s with three autocross days on them. Shipping them wouldn't be too bad for you. I've got a branch in Mesa I could send them to and you could pick them up there. Just sayin'.
For what it's worth,, I'm upsizing my C8 rims +1" on each end so new wider tires. That said, moving my C8 OEM tires over to the C7. Fronts are the same (245) but the rears go from a 285 to a 305. Guys in the C7 section say it's fine.
