I have jack pads installed on the car in the correct jack pad locations and the only Rennstand adapter that will work with those is just the flat plate:
So I have four of those with the idea that I can jack up either the front or rear, or the entire car if necessary. However these are smooth and flat and powder coated, so I am wondering what is the best way to make sure they are stable on the stands since theoretically without any rubber pads on there like on the race jack, the car could slide sideways on the pads? For my M5 I have jack pads that go into the jack pad adapters and once jacked up there is no way the car can move at all as the pads are captured.
So what do folks do to hold the C8 in place on a set of Rennstands? Is there enough grip between my aluminum jacking pads installed on the frame of the car and the powder coated Rennstand plate, or should I consider getting some kind of rubber padding to put in between and provide some grip?
Doh, I totally missed that particular adapter when originally shopping on the site, but I see it now . I was looking for a square peg like the ones you get on the Paragon pucks, not the long pin that comes on these.
Now I need to decide if I keep the pucks installed or remove those and just get some basic slip in ones when I get my lift installed in the garage.
Oh what the heck! With my race jack from Harbor Freight which is pretty low profile already, it does not fit under the C8 with the Rennstand on top. I guess I need a super low profile jack?
I have the same problem with the Rennstand top bar not fitting under the car when jacking it up. My solution was to just use the jack normally and lift the car enough to put a 2 X 8 ( or similar) under the tire. then let the jack down, install the Rennstand top and jack away.
Yeah that is a good idea also. Put something under the tire to keep it up while I get it under there. It may not have enough clearance with the super low profile jack either, so I might just do something like that.
