We purchased a 2021 C8 last week and now have gone on our first road trip. The HVAC would run cold as expected but about 30 to 45 minutes into the trip the temp would start to climb slowly until it is starting to run low. Anyone have an idea as to what to do besides take it to a dealer on the road and spend a ton of money? I have a Bumber to Bumper warranty but just hate turning loose of the deductable a week into owning the car and have a chance of being stuck without my car for days 500 miles from home.
No...It starts out like expected...cold. Then after about 35....45 mins on road the air from the vents starts to warm. Thanks for the courtesy of your reply.
Just a FYI, Chevy put the ports in the worst place in the world. They are behind the fuse box and motor on the passenger side. I had an issue with mine after some work I did and I didnt have a error on my dash. I plugged in my scanner and found the problem. Short of putting a gage on it and seeing what your pressures are at, you are pissing into the wind without a scanner. There is a variable flow valve on the underside of the compressor that is held in with a snap ring and can be replaced when evacuated. That ended up being my issue but I dont know that it regularly fails. So first, check pressures, then scan and go from there.
Moved to C8 Tech....if you take it to a dealer good luck with having it diagnosed correctly...they will just change a bunch of parts...hope your pockets are DEEP !!!
As the temperature of the cabin reaches the set point, the fan speed reduces and the temp of the air being blown will change. If you lower the temp setting, does the air get cooler again? It might be running as intended. If you want the fan speed to remain constant, adjust the fan speed manually. Just a thought...
Luckily we bought a high dollar bumper to bumper, all inclusive Warranty. If I take it to any other Chev dealer I have to pay a duductable...and yep...I am cheap so will have to wait till I get back home in the middle of September. Thanks for the reply.

I had a compressor lock up on a different vehicle while on a very long trip, miles from home. I just drove with windows down. If the AC isnt working there is a chance that the system is low on refrigerant and lubricant. So, potentially, it could lock up, like mine did. Fortunately, in the case of the C8 it looks like it is a dedicated drive belt - so even if the compressor were to lock up and damage the belt, that belt does not appear to drive any other critical elements. Short of going to the dealer, I do no know of anything else you can do other than deal with the heat.
