Default oil pressure

I have 2021 C8 Z51 and I have never seen the oil pressure higher than 36 lbs. at cold start up and usually run 32 at 1,500 rpm on the highway. Is this normal?
Been this way even when new. I only have 4,321 miles on the car.
Most other cars I have had have a lit higher pressure.
Thanks
Wayne

Yes that's what mine does.

I am going to guess you do not realize that your car has a variable displacement oil pump or how it works?

Sounds very normal. I run in the low to mid 30's on cold start, mid 20's on hot idle, and high 30's or higher when hauling the mail. You're good.

Nothing wrong with your question. Yes, its correct that it has a variable displacement oil pump, and some sensors and controls to regulate the engine oil pressure. Oil pressure regulation in cars is not new, but the technology has improved. My 1937 Ford has a simple oil pressure regulation system, as do most cars. But there is nothing wrong with your question, because even with an oil pressure regulation system, that alone does not tell us what the target oil pressure might be. And that information is not in the Owner's Manual either, so you would not know whats normal without asking other owners or a dealer (who may or may not know). And mine is similar to yours. I did find some info in the Service Manual. These are minimums, and not what I would call the target value or design goal.

"Oil Pressure Minimum Hot
22 psi at 1,000 engine RPM
30 psi at 2,000 engine RPM
33 psi at 3,000engine RPM

Great info. I am use to the "old" school when 60 to 80 was good.
Thanks again.

Costs gas and doesn’t need it. My 2020 Cad CT5 runs hot oil pressure in the low 20s.

OP, don't feel bad for asking the question. A question regarding oil pressure was one of the first things I posted after receiving my 2021 HTC. I had a '17 Camaro ZL1, and early production-run cars were having oil pump failures. One of the symptoms the oil pump was about to let go was oil pressures in the 20 psi range during warm idle (normal was in the low 30s). When I saw the oil pressure on my C8 in that range I freaked out believing I was going to have an imminent oil pump failure. If you're not familiar with a dry sump and variable oil system it's a legitimate question to ask.
