Have a 2024 C8 stingray. Less than 1000 miles. Was just at a long red light. I put the car in park. Went to put the car in drive and the drive button was flashing and then the transmission error icon came up. Car would not move. My Corvette app says transmission service. Thing is I could not get the car to move and drive. I kept toggling back from park to drive. I turned the car off waited and then put it in drive again and then it worked, but the transmission icon is still showing. App says service Trans. 983 miles!
Don't freak, take it to the dealer, let them figure it out. There's so much electronic tech on these cars, that **** like that is gonna happen. How often does your cell phone, tablet or desk top "glitch" on you? Sure as hell is disconcerting when it happens at an intersection, I get that.
I hold my breath every time I take my C8 out for a drive that it doesn't strand me somewhere.
I had the transmission filter replaced at 4000 and 7500 miles and the transmission fluid replaced at 3 years and my C8 still needed a valve body replacement at 13,000 miles because it decided it didn't like the even gears.
The weakest part of the car is the damn transmission. I have zero confidence in its reliability.

Gotta ask, why keep it then? Sucks that you've had that amount of issue with it, but if I felt that way about my car, I would ice it and move on. That said, if the replaced valve body fixes the issue, you're good.
I'll bet that's the last time you put it in "P" at a traffic light . Just giving you a hard time, that sucks you are dealing with issues on a brand new car. It is mind-boggling that GM has not resolved these pesky trans issues 6 years in.

Car is paid for and my wife likes it because it’s a convertible. I seriously considered trading it for an ERay but I’m no longer interested in that or any other C8 model thanks to the DCT.
This past spring I stumbled upon a car I’ve had my eye on since its introduction in 2022. Found a used 2023 M6 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will full factory carbon fiber bits. It’s fun car to drive and I don’t worry about the transmission.
brought the car to the dealer last Friday. They said it was a programming issue. I waited about an hour and everything was fine. They also could not get the car into gear until they reprogrammed it. Drove it home seemed fine and then this morning Monday went to take it out and had the exact same issue and it won't go into gear at all and it is stuck in my garage. I have to get a special tow truck to come.
I am told this is happening with many of these cars, constant transmission issues even on brand new ones. If I would've known this, I never would've bought this car and I'm pretty sick about it now. Hundred thousand dollar car with 983 miles on it. Waiting hours for a tow truck to come.

I totally understand your frustration. My C8 is the first Corvette I've ever owned and likely my last, especially if the C9 is all electric.
At least I got 3 years and 13,000 miles before my transmission acted up. In your case, less than 1000 miles plus the inconvenience has got to be pretty disheartening.
Thanks man, appreciate it. Hoping for a good result.

I had the same issue with not being able to get reverse to get out of the garage. Found that if I let the car warm up, it would go into gear. About ten minutes of idling it would go into reverse. Ultimately the valve body needed to be replaced.

Just curious. Before the valve body was replaced, do you know if there was an attempt to resolve the issue with the Hydraulic System Flush?
I ask because many/most of the diagnostic procedures for transmission issue include steps that attempt a remedy, see if it resolved the issue, stop if it did, go to the next step if not. And they culminated with either stopping because it was resolved, or lead to replacement of a component (the valve body) or the transmission. There have been reports that the HSF has solved some, but not all problems. But, I have not seen so many of those recently.
The simple answer was yes. After it happened the first two times, my '21 happened to be due for its 3-year fluid change, so I had that done as well as a filter change where they did the complete procedure(Jerry U's mechanic ). I was hopeful that would take care of the matter, which it didn't. Took it to a closer dealer because of the situation, and GM made them do another filter change by the book procedure which it failed, so GM approved the valve body replace which of course meant I got another new batch of fluid with the newly installed valve body as well as an approved updated pan. That all happened last August and so far all is good. As a side note, I didn't discover the warm-up routine until about the fourth time it happened, which required me to push the car out of the garage with the engine running of course in order to get into neutral. By the time I got the car pushed out, it had warmed up to a trans temp of 120* and the car operated normally. I had to leave it at the dealer for three days until they were able to duplicate the cold start situation in order for GM to sign off on the repair. With overnight shipping of parts, I was able to get out of the dealer in seven working days, which I felt was reasonable.

Good to know. Thanks you. Hopefully I will never need it but...
omg i didn't t think this was still happening with the 24s. i got mine in september and ive 917 miles on it. makes me not want to drive it out of fear it will have the same problem.
You are good, I am waiting the new transmission for 4 months , the thing is that I live in Puerto Rico and the dealer said that the part came in a ship , so I am still waiting
