Default Stingray remake into E-Ray

Greetings,

I own a C8 Stingray. Unfortunately, the E-Ray is not sold in Europe. I would like to add an electric drive to the front axle. Who can I contact regarding this matter? Essentially, I want to convert my Stingray into an "E-Ray."

I don't think its going to be as simple as just adding the drive unit, you'd need every bit of electronics that control the car. Knowing what I know about Global B architecture there's probably very slim chance you'll get all those modules to talk even if you were to mange to find them all. That means without some sort of GM engineer and in house electronics that arent available to the public you'll likely never be able to make it work. Hate to be a debby downer but thats just the reality of it.

I agree. As much as I love my E-Ray, this is not something I would even want to contemplate trying. Not only would you need the electric motor, cooling system for the motor, and the battery, you're going to need the computer systems, which would probably require all computers in the car to be replaced so they could properly talk to each other. Then on top of that, the E-Ray is designed to work with CCBs (Carbon Ceramic Brakes), not just to save weight but because it uses the brakes to do torque vectoring, so if you don't have CCBs you'd be wearing through front brakes way quicker. The only way I'd possibly contemplate it, would be if you could find a donor/wrecked E-Ray (that was rear-ended) that you could pull everything out of.

Honestly, it would probably cost you so much that it might just be worth importing.

There are companies that sell EV motors and conversion kits . You should try there .

It’s impossible! Tadge the former Exec Chief Corvette Engineer said from the start in ~2013 when they started to design the E-Ray there was no other car that had zero mechanical connection front to rear. They had to develop all the very complex algoithims.
In one interview he mentioned they measure microchip while driving on all wheels to define in a turn how much power to apply to each wheel
No way could anyone make a simple system that would work safely. Lots you can search and see what is involved. The two 1 hour interviews after the Bash in 2023 and 2024 have some great detail. Search and find in Steve Garrett’s Podcasts
Sorry

Simplest and cheapest way to do this is:

1: sell your Stingray, and
2: grey market import an eRay.

Default Solution

Just disconnect cylinders one at a time until runs like an accord …

on further thought just disconnect 7

ought to be about right

I think the E-Ray is a widebody car, not built on the Stingray body.

Ya Think?!! Yep it is on the Z06 wide body rear BUT the front isn't wider. But in addition to replacing most of the front-end chassis parts to get the EV motor axles into the front hubs, make room for motor etc there is all that extra cooling. Some lines/systems start in the rear:

No way would this be cost effective to add! Nope, sell your Stingray and buy one, far cheaper. Not cheap just viable and cheaper! Adding the EV Battery, controls in the center tunnel would also be very costly! The electronic integration with the LT2 would require completely new wiring and computer controls!

Adding the E-Rays batteries and drive motor and all the ancillary parts that would be needed, including new front suspension parts to clear the driveshafts, would probably cost as much as your paid for your Stingray. And you still wouldn't have all the electronics necessary to control the drive motor and keep it in sync with the ICE motor. And GM isn't going to help you.

Simply not doable. Sorry.
