Default Magnetic Shift Paddles

Wow, these things seem all the rage.
The click, but more importantly, reduced travel for the engagement.

Yet for $500 to $750 I am too hesitant to purchase

Which leads to my question.

Have any of our ingenious co-members taken the OEM shift paddles apart to try reduced travel with modifications?
Anyone who has disassembled an OEM shift paddle, what is inside? Where is the fulcrum for the travel? Is the fulcrum in the paddle or in the steering column? Photos?
And if so, any detailed directions for your modification or investigation?
Did shims (metal, rubber, cardboard, magnets), replacement of inner components, or anything work?

As an aside, with all are talk of DCT issues, I have a concern of warranty issues if the paddles are modified, so maybe we should not do this "mod", perhaps?

This will sound crazy, but you can find info like this in the sim racing world. I've been to multiple lemons races now where people were using fanatec shifters in their lemons cars, and in sim world there's a lot more tinkering than the average c8 user will do.

I bought a set of $750 Maed paddle shifters from Paragon and ended up returning them. For that amount of money + no color options besides the off-brown color (that doesn't really match anything), the tolerance and fitment left much to be desired. They eventually loosen up and I found the slop irritating.

Paragon has good service and shipped me another set no questions asked......same thing.....and they then accepted a return/refund no problem. What the factory CF paddles lack in crisp engagement, they make up for with tight fit and precise action + look good with the CF ERay steering wheel.

If Maed made the paddles in anodized red, I might be more inclined to overlook the other quirks.

Just a follow up.....
I too like the OEM paddles, sure some extra length could be a betterment....but

What I would like to improve is the "travel" to engagement/ gear shift response.
Anyone who has updated the OEM, utilizing OEM components, do you see a possible modification, such as inserting a shim, to reduce the travel?

I experimented with this recently and trying to find out if someone wants to 3D print and modify the stock paddles. I jerry-rigged the stock paddles by placing metal spacers taped on as temporary spacers just to test how it feels.
Surprisingly, it works! Definitely not pretty, but I needed something quick to test and reversible. It basically cuts the paddle throw in half and since I put metal spacers, it makes a metallic "clack" when you release the paddles and let it go back to resting position.

Here's some pictures:
Spacers added and then taped on to hold temporarily.

If someone could 3d print a spacer that clips into this space, or simply design paddles that have that space filled out.
