What are the daily driving differences between the 6.2L LT1, M7 small block making 465 HP as found in my 2014 Stingray when compared to the 7.0L LS7, 427 M6 "small block" as found in my previous ride, a 2006 Z06??? What are the pros and cons of each engine? I am aware that the LS7 made 505 Crank HP and my LT1 makes 465 Crank HP. Thank you in advance..........
I’m also interested in the differences, but since you’ve had Corvettes with each powertrain shouldn’t you be describing the differences to us?
Based on the torque curves the LS7 seems like the pinnacle of V8 small blocks for the street, but the LT1 was paired with a superior chassis and eLSD so there may be more to it than dyno plots.
The C6 also could become unrepairable if certain modules fail, making the comparison moot.
I can only comment on the c6 z which i bought new in 07 .......too many sets of tires ,laps at VIR ,drag strip runs and street to mention . It was a tricky car to launch but easy to learn WOT speedshifts , power came on after 3 k rpm , i think i got better gas mileage than my present 25 e lol. I put 60 k on it before putting it into a guard rail ....it was an unforgiving car lol . I skipped over c7 gen but came back to c8 ...each generation imho gets faster and more refined i have put 1k on my e so far and its deceptive on its acceleration to the point of how the hell did i get to 100 that quick so quiet and not violent. The z was a pretty good drag racer off the showroom floor once you practiced, it could hold its own on many road courses but could be out driven to the point of start throwing money at it for mods .....it pretty much owned the street during my tenure
