It would probably work better if you said for which C-8. There are differences, especially with the DCT!

You could just buy HP Tuners Mpvi 4. It's about 400 bucks. MPVI4 – HP Tuners
I have Mpvi 2 which I've used on my other GM cars and trucks. I need to upgrade to log and maybe someday unlock the ECU and tune the C8.

a far shadier route that I cannot recommend in good faith, but.. if you look for "vnci mdi2" harnesses, for right around the $200 range, they'll run all of the GM/Bosch software.

I was able to scan with my HP Tuners Mpvi2. You can log about anything you want except E85 content since there is no Flex Fuel sensor.

Are you looking to collect engine data, or just to scan if you get an engine code?

I'm running E30 so I'm keeping an eye on fuel trims. I did have a couple lean codes when I ran the E30 in cold of conditions. I already have HPT from tuning my other cars, so might as well use it. I'm not sure why I couldn't turn off the check engine light after I corrected the fuel trim lean conditions. I like to see what kind of timing it is running at WOT, I hope to someday unlock the ECU to do some tuning on it and add a Flex Fuel sensor and truly tune it on E85, E65 in our area.
