Default Weird Heating Behavior - C8 Stingray 2020

Spoiler

Hello there. Ive been facing a weird heating issue with my stingray lately. Usually, The heat goes upto 89 c Max while driving, And upto 101 c max on idle and traffic. In some occasions that are extremely rare, The car temp jumps upto 120+ then gets back to normal temp with no issues at all. This sudden jump usually happens after i leave the car on and get something from the gas station and hit the road afterwards. What could be the cause?

Ps: its probably not the sensor, Because i idle and get into traffic and parkings all the time and it never exceeds 101 c. It just happens randomly and on very rare occasions.

Please find the link below for a video showing the temp increase.

Hi man, Yeah i have checked the water and its full with no issues. Fans are whats bringing my attention to the increase of temp as they get very loud so yes they work. And i got no warnings at all. Just loud fan noise and a jump of temp then everything gets perfectly back to normal. No repairs has been done at all. All services are on time in the dealership. Its extremely weird

Try not leaving the car running unattended. That sounds like the issue since it is fine besides that.

I see your location is AE (Arab Emirates). Does you car have the V09 option? This option adds an extra radiator in the back on the left side (so a radiator in each rear air scoop.

You can see the radiators by looking into the sidescoops. If you have the Z51 option - and I think all overseas models are Z51, that adds the rear, right side radiator. The V09 option, I think, is for certain countries in the Middle East where the average temperatures are high (compared to US). And the V09 option adds the rear, left side radiator. The radiator sit in front of the fan. I you look in the scoop on the left side and see a radiator, you have V09. If you only the fan, then you do not have V09.

My question was just out of curiosity. I don't think it necessarily is related to your temperature fluctuations. I suppose it could. When the extra radiator is there, it has it own thermostat. You might see fluctuations when that thermostat opens - but this is entirely speculation.

Yes this is true. All cars here comes 3lt with a z51 pack due to the extreme heat. So i assume it does have the V09 option. I have already explained my situation to the dealership and they said that it’s either the fan not running fast enough or a delay on the thermostat reaction. We’ll see till then as i take the car for a service 1K kms later.
