Wow, great info in that article. I didn't know they started working on the Z06 back in 2014!

Yes all true GM wanted the very best V8 engine technology so they bought and tore down multiple F458 engines and likely a 488 twin turbo. If yiou remember Ford bought multiple Ferrari 360 v8 cars to examine and clone the all aluminum investment cast and welded chassis that was developed by Alcoa and Ferrari. Chevies new C8 and previous cars heavy on all aluminum chassis exactly like Ferrari.

KUDOS to Ferrari — everyone copies their world class design and engineering. Ferrari “State of the art formula 1 and street sports car technology “ trickles down to Z06 in the engine. Ferrari 458 engines are very reliable but suffer from high-mileage desease!

Can you explain what you mean by high mileage disease? Seems most 458's have low mileage. Thanks

So, 458 engine is reliable, as long as you don't drive it too much?

Actually, it is the engines that are not driven that have more problems than the ones which are.........

Who has not won a F1 title since 2007..........

Ferrari 458 engines are very reliable but suffer from high-mileage desease!
There was an F355 sold by an 80+ YO gentleman in AZ when his drivers license was not renewed due to eyesight. That car had over 120,000 miles on it at that time.

Ferraris all suffer from High Mileage Disease. Ferrari owners know this and a very well know Wall Street car collector has a wonderful saying about neurotic ferrari owners who suffer from high mileage disease.

1st of all all late model Ferrari engines are very reliable stout and run strong and sound fantastic. GM new this as did ford when they bought and dissected Ferraris 458/488 twin turbo cars for chassis and engine development and ideas. So no one can state that Ferrari cars are down all the time. Ferrari has the best warranty too 7 years unlimited - don’t say thats ‘cause you’ll need it.

2nd 458 engines made big na power and GM really did well to get to 670hp and kudos to c8z06

Ferrari has not won any Formula 1 races since 2007. No team is truly going to beat Mercedes Benz - and that includes Red Bull last year. Mercedes Benz is the ultimate in engineering and development when they choose.

High Mileage Disease - definition . Ferrari owners, buyers and collectors always want Ferraris with low mileage. Once you get over 10,000 miles the cars value drops considerably. Anyway mileage is the enemy and some owners don’t drive their cars as they are afraid of the dreaded High Mileage Disease “ which is a joke to corvette and porsche owners.

James Glickenhaus has a famous saying on Ferrari Chat about high mileage disease. Glickenhaus drives all his cars and lives drives and is a real enthusiast . Even started his own car company and runs Nurburgring 24hr races. Gung-Ho car guy!

Glickenhaus “ Not driving your FERRARI so it’s WORTH more to the next owner…….is like NOT having SEX with your girl-friend so she’s WORTH more to her next boy-friend”!

there ya go. My gated F360 spider has 18,000 miles so I drive em too.

Not knocking you, but that’s less than 1000 miles/yr. It’s all relative

2013 458 Spider, 30k miles (bought it with 2k). Gets used at the track........

From Homestead last weekend......

I hope the Z06 is a good track performer - I have a feeling it will be if they can keep the weight down.

Drive 'em hard!

Ferrari won the 2008 F1 championship as constructors when McLaren F1 was fined and disqualified that season. McLaren team was found guilty of corporate espionage against Ferrari that season (illegally obtained proprietary designs after an engineer defected to McLaren). Lewis Hamilton beat Felipe Massa by one point for the driver's title that year despite Massa winning the final race in Sao Paulo.

Since then Ferrari has been runners-up several times in the drivers/constructors championship.

Runner up is the first looser.

Doesn't matter how many times Mercedes wins the F1 Constructors, I will still pick a Ferrari over a Mercedes any day.

used to be very common in the C4 ZR-1 LT5 community to stash the car hoping it would be a 180k car when they paid 90 for it.

Nope, what you got was an old c4 that folks were scared to touch and a very unhappy new engine that sat.

Sit on the couch for 6 months and don't move, now get up and run around. Let me know how it works out for you.

The cars need to be driven and hold up better when run and maintained than ignored.

thats a beautiful 458 spider. I had the chance to buy the same car with carbon race bucket seats LED steering wheel - White with black wheels “ a Panda” as my kids tell me. How does it handle ? What tires do you run with hot pressures? Ive only track Porsche cars as Ferraris are so gorgeous and its hard to dial in camber and get a harness barn into a spider. I only buy spiders since its a toy. Congrats for running it hard. My 2003 360 spider has high mileage disease its got 18,000 miles ……should have bought the damn 458 spider after I sold the McLaren spider with 750HP.
